Club Day 2012
It was yet another day where all the members of the WMS LEO Club came together for a project. On the 4th of February 2012 we had our first ever LEO Day. It was organized by the Board Members with our dear President, Shin Wei leading. This event was mainly for the members to lossen up and work together with different people rather than those who they were close to.
On that piece of memo pad, the members were to write a number down ranging from 5 to 15. After they were done, they were then told that they had to tell their group a few facts about themselves. The number of facts to be told was the number written on the memo pad. Lucky for those who wrote the smaller numbers! :P
That was not all the surprise we had prepared for the members. They all stood in neat lines and once again were completely unaware as to what they had to do next. It was simply actually, as all they had to do was DANCE! A few of us went upstairs to the block to demonstrate or you could say teach them the steps. It was pretty fun just watching everyone dance to the song and hopefully had a whale of a time.
The members also played a game we called ‘Tangled’. All groups were supposed to stand in their own circle and everyone had to hold someone else’s hand. However, there is a catch to it, they cannot hold the hands of the person beside them. So all of them had to hold hands of people across them and eventually getting all tangled up. From that position, they had to un-tangle themselves into just one circle. Another rule was that they could not let go of their partner’s hands while un-tangling. Sounds fun doesn’t it? :)
As the new members of the club had just had their orientation, which was held on the 20th of January 2012, we prepared another game that would test their memory on what was told in orientation. Each group were to choose an envelope. In that envelope contained a magazine paper and pieces of words. They had to assemble these words to for sentences. One was the LEO Pledge and the other were six facts about LEO Club which was learnt in orientation. That was the last of Ice-Breakers for this event. :) Well, we also played some impromptu games such as, ‘Honey, I love you’ and ‘Hutan’.
Next, each group sent a representative to pick a theme for their Talent Time Skit ( a short sketch ). The choice of themes were Powerpuff Girls, Dexter, Tom and Jerry, Mr.Bean, Kim Possible, Scooby Doo and Totally Spice. :D After that, we had our School Service projects. Each group were in-charged of different things. Two groups were to prepare some props for one of our up-coming events. The other things that were done were, origami folding, photo frame making both with recycled materials. Besides that, there were two groups cleaning the LEO Room ( which we recently got this year :D ) and updating the Newsboard.
Members having fun while at work! :D
These are some of the origami which were folded by our amazing members! :)
After all that hard work, we were all thankful to have lunch. We had a choice of noodles, fried rice, nuggets, sausages and orange cordial. All thanks to Uncle Jimmy and the canteen team for this delicious lunch. Given so much time for lunch, the members discussed about their Talent Time Skit which would be presented right after lunch time. :)
Most of the groups really put up a hilarious skit which I am sure most of us were thoroughly humoured. It was almost the end of the event and almost time for the Prize Giving Session. Before that, we had a Sharing Session where members came out to share their opinion on this event. The moment which the members had been waiting for finally came and Group 3 was the winner for this event. Each member was presented with a Key Chain with “ Leadership, Experience, Opportunity” written on the front. The back had “ You are born a Star ” on it.

It was definitely a great day. Although we were all somewhat exhausted, I was glad to see the members leaving with a smile on their faces. :)
