Leo Club of Wesley Methodist School’s 13th Annual Installation - Rise Over All Resistance

On the 24th of July 2015, Leo Club of Wesley Methodist School held its 13th Annual Installation from 3.15 p.m. to 5.30 p.m. at the chapel of Wesley Methodist School Kuala Lumpur. The theme for this year’s Installation is “Rise Over All Resistance”. This year, the organizing committee consisted of five junior Leo members led by the organizing chairperson, Leo Chan Xin Yi with her assistant, Leo Yap Jing Yi. The committee members were Leo Shweta Eliza Zachariah, Leo Lim You Xin and Leo Ng Xiu Yun.

The event started off at 3.45 p.m. with the meeting called to order by the Presiding Officer, President of Lions Club of Ampang, Lion Joseph Thong Wai Choong. It was then followed by the singing of the national anthem, Negaraku and Leo pledge which was led by the incoming president, Leo Lai Yan Sheng. A short video presentation about the club’s past activities such as Amazing Race, International Relationship Day and Charity Night was presented. Then, the roll call session was conducted, followed by the Presiding Officer, Lion Joseph Thong Wai Choong’s speech. A speech was then given by the outgoing president, Leo Kok Jia Yunn.

After that, the initiation ceremony began with the installation of the incoming Leo members by the District Chairperson for Leo Clubs, Lion Foo See Yow, followed by the inauguration of the incoming Board of Directors for the fiscal year 2015/2016 by the Guest of Honour, 2nd Vice District Governor, Lion Richard Ho. After that, the incoming president, Leo Lai Yan Sheng gave his speech. Then, the event continued with the presentation of certificates to the outgoing Leo members and Board of Directors for the fiscal year 2014/2015 by the Presiding Officer, Lion Joseph Thong Wai Choong to acknowledge their contributions towards the club. This is followed by a speech given by the vice principal of Wesley Methodist School Kuala Lumpur, Madam Pearl Moses. The Guest of Honour, Lion Richard Ho then gave his speech too before the meeting was adjourned by the Presiding Officer, Lion Joseph Thong Wai Choong.

After that, a small group of Leos performed a dance. The event ended with the presentation of tokens of appreciation which were given out to the VIPs whom attended the event by the faculty advisor of Leo Club of Wesley Methodist School, Encik Syaiful Rijal whereas the souvenirs to the clubs from our school and other schools were given out by the outgoing president, Leo Kok Jia Yunn. All guests were invited down to the canteen to have some light refreshments.

Mock cheque presentation session. On the 24th of March 2018 (Saturday), the Leo Club of Wesley Methodist School held its annual charity event - which was Charity Night, from 7:30p.m. to 11:15 p.m. It was hosted at the Manhattan II ballroom in Berjaya Times Square Hotel, which had been rented prior to the event in order to serve as the main event area. The theme for this year's Charity Night was "Luminescence". The main purpose of the event was to raise funds to help the blind community, as all profits from this event were donated to various blind organisations and homes. The project also aspired to educate and raise awareness about blindness in our society today. The theme was chosen to enlighten the public on the challenges faced by the millions of blind people all over the world. 46th MD LEO Forum

We won some awards! Ten members from the LEO Club of Wesley Methodist School had attended the 46th MD LEO Forum from the 25th to the 27th of May 2018 at Trove Hotel, Johor Bahru. The theme for this year’s forum was “Joint, Humanity, Balance”, which aimed to encourage joint learning through experience, empower compassion for a better society and equality in the society by fulfilling our own voluntary services. Pyjamas Party. The forum began with an opening ceremony. Then, all LEOs were briefed about some home and safety rules. This was followed by an ice breaking session and cultural activity, where the LEOs were separated into groups of eight and each explored their creativity in decorating a batik cloth. At 7.00 p.m., all LEOs gathered back in the ballroom, dressed in their fanciest pyjamas for fellowship night, themed “Pyjamas Party”. Charity Night 2023: Hearts VS Spades

  On December 15, 2023, Friday, the LEO Club of Wesley Methodist School hosted its first Charity Night event in 5 years at HGH Convention Centre Sentul. The primary objective of this event was to raise funds for the community of people struggling with diabetes and to raise awareness about their challenges. Additionally, it aimed to instil a sense of teamwork, responsibility, and devotion among LEO members towards the club. The theme for this year’s event, ‘Hearts Vs Spades’, symbolises the relentless battle waged by warriors worldwide against the dreaded adversary of diabetes.  Diabetes, a chronic affliction characterised by high sugar levels in the bloodstream, is no ordinary foe. As we unite under this captivating emblem, we shine a spotlight on the valiant struggles of those grappling to stabilise their blood glucose levels and continue to live another day.
