On the 23rd
and 24th of August, the Leo Club of Wesley Methodist School carried
out a school service project with the theme “I Wish Will”. The aim of
this project is to remind students that life isn’t just about sitting around
constantly wishing for something good to happen; instead of wishing, they
should take the first move by having the will to try. Besides that, the
project’s purpose is also to encourage students to lose all their fears and
doubts and try something new for once. The event was organised by our Community
Service Director, Leo Teo Boon Kee, with the help of the assistant organising
chairperson, Leo Oon Ai Xuan. The committee members consisted of Leo Chan Wei
Xinn and Leo Hay Wee Xin Whitney.
On the day of
the project, a skit regarding confidence was presented to the students during
morning assembly. The activities were held during the lower secondary and upper
secondary break and lunch. The members on duty came down 10 minutes earlier
before their respective shifts to set up the pledge board and the “Take What
You Need” booths, where handmade bookmarks will be given out to students. The
students participated in the pledge board by writing down their dreams and
goals which they will pursue, on the board. After writing their pledges, they
were welcomed to take a bookmark each. Motivational quotes were printed on the
bookmarks according to the four words the club is promoting which are: ‘Happiness’,
‘Courage’, ‘Confidence’ and ‘Hope’.
Overall, the
project received an astounding response from the students with them actively
and enthusiastically participating in the activities. The Leo Club of Wesley
Methodist School hopes that the students had all taken something away from this
project and start achieving their goals in their daily lives through
positivity.
