17th Annual Installation - Unite to Light

Incoming members and Board of Directors of 2019/2020 getting installed!

On the 4th of July 2019, Thursday, the LEO Club of Wesley Methodist School held its 17th Annual Installation at the Dutton Hall from 3.40 p.m. to 6.00 p.m. The theme chosen for this year was “Unite to Light”, which symbolises the members' teamwork in order to accomplish greater heights in the future and to create a pathway for the incoming members as well as to guide them. This event was led by the Organizing Chairperson, LEO Khoo Hui-Yi, who was assisted by the Assistant Organizing Chairperson, LEO Bin Jing Lit, Ethan together with committee members LEO Tan Xiao Jun, LEO Teh Deng Han and LEO Siah Wei Chen.

The event began with the Presiding Officer, President of the Lions Club of Ampang, Lion Chan Yoke Poh calling the meeting to order and was followed by the singing of the national anthem before the recitation of the LEO pledge led by the Outgoing President, LEO Lan Yuen Qi. Then, the President of Lions Club of Ampang Lion Chan Yoke Poh gave his speech which was followed by the recognition of the Lion dignitaries and clubs present. Guests were then entertained by a video presentation made by a few of our club members reviewing the various activities attended as well as organized by the LEO Club of Wesley Methodist School throughout the fiscal year.

Mr. Wong Chee Kheon, Guest of Honour and Principal of Wesley Methodist School Kuala Lumpur (International), then began the ceremony of presentation of certificates of appreciation as well as the testimonials to the outgoing senior members of the club. It was to commemorate the tireless sacrifice and hard work put in by the senior members in making this fiscal year a successful one. This was followed by a speech from the Outgoing President, LEO Lan Yuen Qi. Following that, the junior members were initiated by the District Chairperson Designated of LEO Clubs, Youth Opportunity, Quest Region 3, 4 and 5, Lion Lee Wai Koong and after that came the installation of incoming Board of Directors for the fiscal year 2019/2020. The members each received a certificate, together with a LEO pin, and were welcomed with the traditional “three lion roars” in which they responded in the same manner with enthusiasm. Soon after, the incoming president of the LEO Club of Wesley Methodist School, LEO Esther Sue Greenall made her speech followed by a speech from the Guest of Honour and Principal of Wesley Methodist School Kuala Lumpur (International), Mr. Wong Chee Kheon.

The meeting was then adjourned by Lion Chan Yoke Poh. To liven up the moment, a singing performance was performed by LEO Tan Yu Shen, LEO Cheah Zhi Xin and LEO Kho Kai Ting, accompanied by LEO Aamax Lee Jun Yu on the guitar. The two songs performed were “True Colours” and “I See The Light”, which portrayed the spirit and enthusiasm of the members to lighten up the path before them into the new fiscal year while using their true talents and abilities to bring the club forward. After the performance, Mr. Lee Sek Khoon, the faculty advisor of the club presented tokens of appreciation to the VIPs present while the outgoing president, LEO Lan Yuen Qi, gave away the souvenirs to all club representatives who attended the event. Guests were then invited to the canteen for refreshments prepared by the members.

In conclusion, the event was a successful one with the formal send off of the senior members as well as a warm welcome to the newly installed members and the Board of Directors of the fiscal year of 2019/2020.

On the 24th of March 2018 (Saturday), the Leo Club of Wesley Methodist School held its annual charity event - which was Charity Night, from 7:30p.m. to 11:15 p.m. It was hosted at the Manhattan II ballroom in Berjaya Times Square Hotel, which had been rented prior to the event in order to serve as the main event area. The theme for this year's Charity Night was "Luminescence". 46th MD LEO Forum

We won some awards! Ten members from the LEO Club of Wesley Methodist School had attended the 46th MD LEO Forum from the 25th to the 27th of May 2018 at Trove Hotel, Johor Bahru. The theme for this year’s forum was “Joint, Humanity, Balance”, which aimed to encourage joint learning through experience, empower compassion for a better society and equality in the society by fulfilling our own voluntary services. Pyjamas Party. The forum began with an opening ceremony. Then, all LEOs were briefed about some home and safety rules. This was followed by an ice breaking session and cultural activity, where the LEOs were separated into groups of eight and each explored their creativity in decorating a batik cloth. At 7.00 p.m., all LEOs gathered back in the ballroom, dressed in their fanciest pyjamas for fellowship night, themed “Pyjamas Party”. Charity Night 2023: Hearts VS Spades

  On December 15, 2023, Friday, the LEO Club of Wesley Methodist School hosted its first Charity Night event in 5 years at HGH Convention Centre Sentul. The primary objective of this event was to raise funds for the community of people struggling with diabetes and to raise awareness about their challenges. Additionally, it aimed to instil a sense of teamwork, responsibility, and devotion among LEO members towards the club. The theme for this year’s event, ‘Hearts Vs Spades’, symbolises the relentless battle waged by warriors worldwide against the dreaded adversary of diabetes.  Diabetes, a chronic affliction characterised by high sugar levels in the bloodstream, is no ordinary foe. As we unite under this captivating emblem, we shine a spotlight on the valiant struggles of those grappling to stabilise their blood glucose levels and continue to live another day.
