20th Annual Installation: Aeterna Sidera

On the 25th of July 2023, Wednesday, the LEO Club of Wesley Methodist School held its 20th Annual Installation at the Wesley Hall from 4.00p.m to 6.00p.m. This event was held to mark the official retirement of senior members after 2 years of service, and formally install the junior members and the Board of Directors. The theme for this year was ‘Aeterna Sidera’, which translates to ‘eternal stars’ in Latin. Like the countless stars that dot the night sky, each and every one of the LEO members fill the void of blue and black with their own unique stories. Coming together as one, they form a constellation that shines brighter than ever before, symbolizing the new and unified LEO club. This theme aims to encourage all LEO members to come together and reunite as one, as we strive together to reach even greater heights for the club in the upcoming fiscal year.


The event was led by the Organising Chairperson, LEO Ethan Foo Sheng Zhi, who was assisted by the 2 Assistant Organizing Chairpersons, LEO Ilana Lau Ruo Min and LEO Khor Kai Foong as well as the committee members LEO Sarah Chee Jie, LEO Kwok Zen and LEO Tan Sze Xuan. This event was attended by members and teacher advisors of the LEO Club of WMS and Interact Club of WMSKL(I). VIPs from the Lions Club of Ampang also graced the event with their presence.

The event began with the Presiding Officer, Lion Christina Foong, calling the meeting to order.  This was followed by the singing of the national anthem and recitation of the LEO pledge, which was led by the Outgoing President, LEO Theenesh Sivaram. After that, the recognition of Lion dignitaries with the three signature lion roars was led by the emcees. The Presiding Officer, Lion Christina Foong then gave a speech, in which she acknowledged the excellent service of our school’s LEO Club throughout the years. The Guest of Honour, Mr Lim Chee Ho, who is also the Vice Principal of Co-curricular Activities of Wesley Methodist School Kuala Lumpur (International), was then promptly invited onto the stage to present his speech, which was truly inspiring.


Kicking off the second part of the event, a video presentation highlighting all the events held during the previous fiscal year was presented. The video was prepared by the media department, and it most certainly brought back fond memories of the fiscal year 2022/2023. The audience was then wowed by a stunning singing performance titled 'Rewrite the Stars' by LEO Charles Fong and LEO Katelyn Ling. Next, Mr Lim Chee Ho commenced the presentation of the Certificates of Completion and Testimonials to the outgoing members and Board of Directors. This was done to appreciate their hard work and service for the club throughout their two years of service. The outgoing president, LEO Theenesh Sivaram, then presented a rousing speech. He even went the extra mile to thank every single one of the outgoing Board of Directors as well as LEO Club members for their contributions to the club.

For the highlight of the event, the Second Vice District Governor, Lion Sek Jin Han, was called upon to conduct the Initiation Ceremony of the Incoming Members. He also presented the LEO pins to the newly installed members. Then, the Presiding Officer, Lion Christina Foong, initiated the new Board of Directors. The incoming members and Board of Directors were welcomed with the traditional “three lion roars” to signify their induction into the club, and they responded in the same manner with much heart and enthusiasm. The District Governor, Lion Alex Ooi, was then invited to present his speech, in which he expressed his hopes that under the helm of the new Board of Directors, the club would soar on to even greater heights. Following that, the Incoming President, who was also Organizing Chairperson, LEO Ethan Foo, presented his speech, setting the tone for the upcoming fiscal year.

To mark the momentous occasion, LEO Ashley Chua, LEO Chee Tse Anne and LEO Lee Zhi Ying presented a fabulous display of musical talent with their instrumental performance titled 'One Summers' Day'. Before the event came to a close, LEO Theenesh Sivaram, the Outgoing President, then presented tokens of appreciation to the VIPs, including Lions Club Members, Mr Lim Chee Ho and the outgoing Interact Club president, Interactor Anna Chin. Then, Lion Christina Foong was invited onto the stage once more to adjourn the meeting at 6p.m, after which the guests were invited into the Conference Room for light refreshments before alighting.


All in all, the event was a tremendous success, as the senior members were given a formal send off and the newly installed members and the incoming Board of Directors for the fiscal year 2023/2024 were given a warm welcome.

Mock cheque presentation session. On the 24th of March 2018 (Saturday), the Leo Club of Wesley Methodist School held its annual charity event - which was Charity Night, from 7:30p.m. to 11:15 p.m. It was hosted at the Manhattan II ballroom in Berjaya Times Square Hotel, which had been rented prior to the event in order to serve as the main event area. 46th MD LEO Forum

We won some awards! Ten members from the LEO Club of Wesley Methodist School had attended the 46th MD LEO Forum from the 25th to the 27th of May 2018 at Trove Hotel, Johor Bahru. The theme for this year’s forum was “Joint, Humanity, Balance”, which aimed to encourage joint learning through experience, empower compassion for a better society and equality in the society by fulfilling our own voluntary services. This was followed by an ice breaking session and cultural activity, where the LEOs were separated into groups of eight and each explored their creativity in decorating a batik cloth. Charity Night 2023: Hearts VS Spades

  On December 15, 2023, Friday, the LEO Club of Wesley Methodist School hosted its first Charity Night event in 5 years at HGH Convention Centre Sentul. The primary objective of this event was to raise funds for the community of people struggling with diabetes and to raise awareness about their challenges. Additionally, it aimed to instil a sense of teamwork, responsibility, and devotion among LEO members towards the club. The theme for this year’s event, ‘Hearts Vs Spades’, symbolises the relentless battle waged by warriors worldwide against the dreaded adversary of diabetes.  Diabetes, a chronic affliction characterised by high sugar levels in the bloodstream, is no ordinary foe. As we unite under this captivating emblem, we shine a spotlight on the valiant struggles of those grappling to stabilise their blood glucose levels and continue to live another day.
