WMS Leos Annual Farewell 2013
On the 3rd
of August 2013, the Leo Club of Wesley Methodist School held its annual
farewell for the club’s senior members. The event was held at Thank God It’s
Friday (T.G.I.F) which is located at Hartamas Shopping Centre. 69 members
alongside 3 teacher advisors namely, Madam Chelvi, Madam Low and Madam Lavanya
attended this event. The event started at 7pm and ended at 11pm. The theme of this
year’s farewell is S.W.A.G., which is an acronym for Sad, We Are Gone. This
theme managed to portray the sadness of the juniors towards their seniors
leaving the club.
The event was
held to say farewell to our seniors. The door gifts for this event were given
to each senior. It is a lion’s head with a pop out tongue. Weeks before the
events, we gave out the invitation cards to our seniors. To make the event more
interesting, the form 5 members were given a SWAG Badge which was their
identity. The badge was their ID throughout the event. The invitation letter
was made to look like a task given to them, the “secret agents”. The seniors
were ordered to rescue Princess Abilone on the day of the event.
The event began
with a punishment game for the seniors who arrived late for the farewell party.
The seniors had to recite the Leo Pledge backwards. After that, the emcees, Leo
Joshua, Leo Chia Kye Li and Leo Abishek preceded the event with their short
introduction sketch. This short sketch is about saving a princess named Princes
Abilone. Dinner was then served.

After our dinner,
the event continued with a singing performance by Leo Esther and Leo Kristen,
who played the guitar. Then, there was another singing performance by the Form
4 members. The Form 4 members performed the song “Here’s To Never Growing Up” .The
seniors sang along with the Form 4 members too.

The singing
performance was followed by a sketch which was about an interview for a place
in the Leo club. The sketch was so humorous that the seniors laughed very hard.
The event was then followed by a dance performance by Leo Joel Wong and Leo Chong
Wei Hong. The seniors enjoyed their adorable dance moves.
After that, the
games session were held. The first game is “The Shoe Factory". Every
player is requested to remove their shoes and place them at a place. Each
person was then asked to wear a pair of shoes except their own. The person then
had to look for the other person wearing the shoe that matches and stand beside
them. Only until every person found their pair of shoes were they are allowed
to switch back to their own shoes. It was quite funny when some boys had to
wear girls’ shoes.
The next game
was “Musical Chairs”. However, this was not the typical Musical Chairs. Chairs
were placed around tables of which among some were placed with disgusting food.
For example, there were lemon mixed with garlic and Oreo Toothpaste. As time
was running short, we only had three rounds of this game including the final
showdown. The winner was Leo Tiong Wei Shien who received a box of Kisses
Chocolate as the prize.

The third game
was known as “Baby Wonderland”. Each Form 5 member was given a baby photo of the
Form 4 members. They had to recognize the Form 4 members from the photo and
look for them to get their desserts which were a surprise. Some of the seniors
had a hard time searching for the right person in the photo.
When the game
ended, the event preceded with the speech by our outgoing president, Leo Ooi
Zhi Xuan. Her speech ended with 3 loud roars answered by every member. There
was a surprise singing performance by our outgoing president and Leo Chee Sze
Huey. After that, the token of appreciations were presented to the Form 5
members. The token of appreciation is a small bottle with ‘chilling pills’ in
it and a candid photo of the club members. In every ‘chilling pill’ is a short
joke to de-stress our seniors as their SPM examination is near.

The event ended
with a short video presentation prepared by Leo Edward and Leo Joel Wong. The
incoming board members then presented each of the outgoing board members with their
present.
The event ended
with a bang and was memorable for everyone. The seniors especially wished us
luck on our Leo journey. It was the symbol of the start of a Leo journey of
every Form 4 members and the end of the Form 5 members’ journey in Leo Club of
Wesley Methodist School.
