After months of
continuous effort and sufficient preparations, the day had finally arrived for
the LEO Club of Wesley Methodist School's 4th annual Charity Dinner held on the
28th of March 2014. This project served as a large scale community service
project to amass donations for unfortunate and unprivileged children.
This year, 320 people
attended this event, mainly consisting of parents, teaching staff, Lions, and
students from our schools as well as our friends from outside the compounds of
WMS. Our Guest-of-Honour for the evening was our very own Chairman from the
Board of Management of WMS, Dato' Chin Lean Keat. The event was also graced
with the full support of ten representatives sent by the Lions Club of Ampang,
which is our sponsoring Lions Club as well as three out of four of our
beneficiary organisations, Shelter Home For Children, Kasih Foundation and
Living Hope Foundation. Unfortunately, representatives from Kanak-Kanak
Istimewa Ampang were unable to attend the event as they were preoccupied with
other events at hand.
The night consisted of
various performances by numerous groups of our talented members, school
students and outside guests. The meeting was called to order by the Presiding
Officer, Lion Terrence Foo, followed by a roll call session. After the
respective speeches made by the Guest-of-Honour and myself, we proceeded with
the presentation of the token of appreciation to the Guest-of-Honour, Dato'
Chin Lean, clubs and societies present and other VIPs. A mock cheque
presentation was then carried out with a representative from the respective
organisations. The meeting was adjourned immediately after the presentation.
We had a variety of
performances, ranging from sketches, to song performances, video presentations
and dances. Most of the songs were related to giving in conjunction with the
message we were hoping to relay to our guests throughout the course of events,
which was to lend a helping hand to the under privileged in their hour of need
for we are able to give in return for what we have received. As the guests were
enthralled by the jaw dropping performances held that evening, they also had
the opportunity to enjoy a spectacular mouth watering 8-course dinner prepared
by the prestigious chefs of our 4-star venue, Concorde Hotel. I have also
received feedbacks from the members present that day that this year's Charity
Dinner was a success and they enjoyed the food served as well as the
performances that had their eyes hooked on the stage at all times in between
meals. I can proudly say that their five senses were not disappointed at all in
the least bit.
