Pre-Exam Sales
On the 4th
and 5th of September 2014 (Thursday and Friday), the Leo Club of
Wesley Methodist School held our annual Pre-Exam Sales during lower secondary
and upper secondary break and lunch. The event was organised by Leo Ng Cal-Vin,
the Funding Director of Leo Club of Wesley Methodist School. The assistant
organizing chairperson was Leo Nigel Ian
Cross, while the committee members consisted of Leo Chia Ying Yan, Leo Lee Jia
Hern and Leo Jason Ong Jie Khai. The objectives of this event were to help the students to release stress by eating
good food while doing their final revision before the exams, as well as to
raise funds for the club’s future activities. Food and items such as pizzas,
bananas with chocolate, konyaku jellies, and motivational badges were sold.
Preparations started as soon as the proposal
for the event was approved by the school Principal, Madam Chia Loy Tian. Leo
members were assigned to various tasks, including preparing and supplying
foods, ordering badges, making promotional posters and price lists, as well as preparing
for the promotional sketch and speech. A day before the sales, the Leo members were
thoroughly briefed about their duties and responsibilities during the sales.
On the day of the sales, the konyaku jellies were stored in the canteen refrigerator with the canteen staff’s approval to ensure the jellies’ freshness. Seven Leo members were given permission to leave class early to make the necessary preparations for the sale during each shift. The Leo members started cutting the bananas as it could not have been done in advance to avoid oxidation. On the other hand, two other Leo members were assigned to melt the chocolate to be drizzled on the bananas in the cup. During lunch, our faculty advisors, Miss Low Fee Ngoo and Miss Lavanya Silvarajan helped to collect the pizzas, while the Leo members quickly cut the pizzas to be sold to the students. The food and badges were prepared just in time for the break and lunches. All the items sold received good response from both lower secondary and upper secondary students. The pizzas and bananas were proved to be our bestsellers as they were quickly sold out.

The Leo members
started cleaning up our work stations ten minutes before the break and lunch
ended. The tables were wiped clean and the waste was disposed of properly. The
cleanup was quick and effective and the Leo members went for assembly on
time.
After the two days of
hard work, we managed to sell out all of our items. The Leo members’ effort in
promoting the food and boosting the sales was greatly appreciated. We were
extremely happy to have sold all our items.
