Chinese New Year - Friendship Day Sales 2017
On the 6th of February to the 8th
of February 2017, the Leo Club of Wesley Methodist School held their Friendship
Day – Chinese New Year Sales. This sale was organised mainly by the juniors of
the club. The organizing committee consisted of the organizing chairperson Leo
Yap Ziyi, assistant organizing chairperson Leo Andrea Goh Ern-Rey, along with
Leo Lim Jia Wen, Leo Chia Xin Zheng Alden, and Leo Tan Lik Wei. In conjunction
with the sale, a photo booth and a pre-order badge sale were also held to
attract the interests of the students. The objectives of this project were to
raise the enthusiasm of students for the Chinese New Year occasion and to
appreciate their friendships with one another, as well as to raise funds for
the club's future activities.
A duty list was prepared beforehand for the
members to know their respective tasks and shifts for the food sale. Preparations
started two weeks before the sale itself. The committee briefed the members on what
they can help out with and the members were all very active in responding to
our needs for the sale. They were also very diligent in helping out and
contributing to the sale. Food such as brownies, popsicles, waffles, ice cream,
spaghetti and Ribena sprite were all prepared by the members.
On the day of the sales, the brownies and
ice cream were stored in the canteen refrigerator with the canteen staff's
approval to ensure the brownies' texture and to prevent the ice cream from
melting. Seven members were given permission to leave class early to make the
necessary preparations for the sale during each shift. The food were well
prepared before students came for their respective break and lunch. The prices
of the foods in the food sale was in between RM1 to RM4, thus making it
affordable for the students. We managed to sell out most of our foods towards
the end of our sale. The most popular food that grabbed the attention of many
students were the popsicles and spaghetti.
Meanwhile, the badge sale form was pasted
behind on the noticeboards of each classroom for students to pre-order. There
was a total of 7 badge designs for the students to choose from. From quotes to
icons regarding friendship, the response we received about the badges from the
students was positively overwhelming. There was also a photo booth that was
designed by the members and set up for students to take pictures with their
friends. Props and accessories were provided for the students to use as well. The
badge sale and the photo booth were both a tremendous success. The food sale definitely
would not have been a success without the help of all the Leo members, and all
their efforts are greatly appreciated.

Posters were also designed by the members themselves to promote the food sale. |
