LEO Camp

Members gathered for a group photo.

On the 14th and 15th of September 2018, the LEO Club of Wesley Methodist School held its Annual LEO Camp from 3.30 p.m. on the 14th of September 2018 to 8.00p.m. on the 15th of September 2018 in Wesley Methodist School Kuala Lumpur (International). The theme of the event “Leovolution” is a combination of the words “Leo” and “Evolution”, which signifies all senior LEO members stepping out of their comfort zones and taking on the role as mature leaders to guide and lead the way for the junior LEO members while the junior LEO members are being welcomed as a part of the LEO family. The main objective of the event was to promote leadership, as well as teamwork among the LEO members. The event was led by the Organising Chairperson, LEO Chen Jac Kern, who was assisted by the Assistant Organising Chairperson, LEO Alandra Tong Mae Tynn and LEO Julian Lee Chuan Ee, along with committee members LEO Chua Zheng Kang, LEO Koh Jeanne, LEO Lye Ming Rong and LEO Tan Khai Jeat.

The event began with an opening speech by Mr. Amaranathan, Vice Principal of Co-curriculum of WMSKl(I), which was followed by the presentation of token of appreciation to Mr. Amaranathan, to show our gratitude for attending the opening ceremony of this event. There was then a briefing about the rules, angel and mortals and blessing wall. After that was the ice breaking session, along with the war cry session. During ice breaking, members played “Huddle Together”, where a facilitator announced the number of people required in a group and the members had to huddle together in a group according to the number stated by the facilitator. Moving on, the members had to find their group members using the clues given to them during registration, as well as the facilitators for their group. After all the groups have settled down, the members in the groups introduced themselves and came up with a war cry to symbolise their unity.

The event continued with a friendly captain ball match between the groups, which was followed by dinner, where McDonalds were prepared for the members. After that, the members returned to the hall for a highly anticipated Mystery Night, where members found out that there were spies among them and were required to figure out who the spies are by the end of the Mystery Night. The Mystery Night was split into two rounds. A few stations were set up during the first round, where members were given clues about the spies once they complete a station successfully. There were also boxes with questions inside, which can be given to the Merlin, who will answer the questions and help the members to figure out the identities of the spies. During the second round, the spies were allowed to start killing the members and vice versa. The groups soon found out that there was a spy in their own groups and many members that were killed were sent to the prison game, where they had to pass the game in order to be relived. At the end of the Mystery Night, the spies were revealed to the members and they formed a separate group.

The second day started with morning exercise, followed by a breakfast of roti canai. Later on, there were station games and water games, with some time for lunch in between. Members were then sent to pack up before dinner, where a few boxes of pizza had been ordered. After that, the members returned to the hall for the final activity of the camp - Mystery Night 2.0. During the second Mystery Night, members were required to find pieces of the War Hammer to free Serenity and bring her to Wrath, and to solve the mystery of Serenity’s sudden disappearance. The facilitators were dressed up as their respective characters and were situated in different classrooms, each with a different background story. To sum it all up, Pandora was the culprit and had captured Serenity because she has always been jealous of Serenity’s powers, all the other characters were acting as distractions.

After Mystery Night, the event proceeded with the closing ceremony. District Chairperson Designated of LEO Clubs, Youth Opportunity, Quest Region 3, 4 and 5, Lion Lee Wai Koong was then invited up on stage to give his speech. Token of appreciation were also given to Lion Lee Wai Koong and LEO Advisor, Lion Elessee Lai. Prizes were also given to the winning groups for the camp. The event ended with a group photo session with all the members present. All in all, the event was a successful one and managed to form a stronger bond between the members. Be sure to stay updated about our recent activities!
