LEO Day 2018

On the 2nd of December 2018, two members from the LEO Club of Wesley Methodist School attended LEO Day 2018, themed “LEOventure”, which was held in SMK Jalan Cochrane from 10 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. This event was held in conjunction with the 61st International LEO Day and aimed to raise awareness for the selected key areas among the LEO members.
Registration began at 9.30 a.m. and the event started with the singing of the national anthem, followed by the recitation of the LEO pledge, which was led by LEO Germaine. Then, it was roll call, where every Lion and LEO members present gave three roars with much enthusiasm and pride when their names or club names were called. The Guest of Honour, Lion Richard, then gave a speech about the significance of being a LEO member and proceeded to share his experience as a LEO member, which began when he was in secondary school. Lion Richard was then invited back up on stage to officiate the opening ceremony of the event, along with the Organising Chairperson of the event, LEO Bernard Tang, as well as some fellow Lions. All the Lions and LEO members present were then invited up on stage for a group photo session.

vision, taught the members about the different types of eye diseases, their causes and their treatments. The LEO members were then blindfolded and led around the school compound to raise awareness of the struggles blind people face and to instill trust amongst the LEO members. After that was the diabetes station, which taught the members about the ways to prevent diabetes through a few mini station games. Lastly, the LEO members were reminded to cherish food in the hunger station. Discussions about Soup Kitchens and the cause of hunger were also held at the last station.
The event came to an end with the closing ceremony and a speech by LEO Bernard Tang, who expressed his gratitude to everyone who attended the event and to his committee members for ensuring the success of the event. There was another group photo session and refreshments were served. Overall, the event was indeed a successful one and managed to get the LEO members from different clubs to know each other better. Also, happy birthday to all the LEO members out there!
