Joint Installation/LEO School 2019
On the 18th of August 2019, 4 of our members and our Board of Directors attended the Joint Installation and LEO School held at SJK(C) Chee Wen. The theme of the event was L.O.V.E and aimed to impart the message of “Leading with Love, Optimism, Value and Empowerment”. The Joint Installation was held from 9.00 am to 12.30 pm, while LEO School was held from 1.00 pm to 6.00 pm.
4 of our members were given the opportunity to give a singing performance at the Joint Installation event. The singers were LEO Tan Yu Shen, LEO Kho Kai Ting and LEO Cheah Zhi Xin. A melodious guitar accompaniment was played by LEO Aamax Lee. They performed two songs, which were “I See the Light” from the film Tangled, and “Don’t Give Up On Me” by Andy Grammer. Both songs aimed to encourage the LEOs as well as Lions present in the audience to stand united and serve with their whole heart.
After that, the participants and attendees of the Joint Installation event were provided with a lunch at the Canteen. The LEO members and Lions both equally had a good time getting to know each other better as well as exploring the unique differences of each club.
At 1.00 pm, the Board of Directors attended LEO School which commenced with the gathering of the LEO members and Lions in the Hall. Several opening speeches were given by a few Lions, then the time was handed over to one of the organising committee to explain the agenda of the event.
We first began with an introduction to the roles of the Board of Directors. We learned about the respective and general roles of each of the members of the Board of Directors. Then, Treasurer School, Secretary School and President School were held respectively in that order. We were given the opportunity to explore the roles and responsibilities of the key officers and the different formats used for financial as well as secretariat reports.
LEO School concluded with a presentation of certificates to the participants present at the event. After that, the Joint Installation Committee and Subcommittee received their certificates as well.
As a whole, Joint Installation and LEO School was a great opportunity to connect with other clubs and get to know more about them. Besides that, it was an eye-opening experience and we managed to learn a lot more about our roles as members of the Board of Directors in the club and how to lead the club in the right direction to achieve our goals.
