On the 27th July 2020 to the 30th July 2020, the LEO Club of Wesley Methodist School held its minor funding project for the fiscal year 2019/2020. The theme of the event was “DeLEOvery.” This theme was inspired by the food deliveries that gained popularity during the 2020 Malaysia Movement Control Order. This event was led by the Organizing Chairperson, LEO Kuan Ling Ya, who was assisted by the Assistant Organizing Chairperson, LEO Tham Zhan Chern, along with committee members LEO Low Shun Xuan, LEO Julian Wong Ken Ryung and LEO Justin Eu Che-Yang. The aim of this event was to provide affordable snacks for students and teachers through the sale of various snacks and to raise funds for the LEO Club of Wesley Methodist School’s future community service events.
Prior to the 27th July 2020, a Google form was sent out to the whole school in order for them to pre-order their individual food items. The committee members had to pre-pack all the orders beforehand as we had to adhere to the rules and regulations of the Standard Operating Procedure. Our menu consisted of White Rabbit Candy, Wheel Crackers, Wang Wang Biscuits, Ice Gems, and Popo Muruku. Students, teachers and staff were allowed to buy Set orders or Ala Carte orders with prices ranging from RM1 to RM5.
For all four days of the event, the committee members and the Board of Directors arrived at 7:00 a.m. and started the days off by arranging the pre-ordered food and delivering them to the respective classes. Tasks were delegated accordingly and by 7:50 a.m. all food orders were delivered and distributed. The committee members and Board of Directors packed up and headed back to their classes before lessons started at 8:00 a.m. During the Upper Secondary break at 10:40 a.m. to 11:20 a.m. the committee members and Board of Directors collected the money from students, teachers and staff who made their orders earlier. All money collected was then passed to the treasurer for safekeeping.
To sum it all up, the event was an eye opening experience for the committee members. At the sight of all the food sold during the event, many were reminded of their childhood memories. The members of the LEO Club also managed to gain new skills and bond amongst each other. We are grateful for all the teachers, staff and students who have supported our event and the members for their hard work and dedication.
