Minor Community Service Project: Second Chance Animal Society

A day well spent!

On the 10th April 2021, Saturday, nine of our members and Mr. Lee Sek Khoon, our Faculty Advisor, from the LEO Club of Wesley Methodist School visited Second Chance Animal Society to carry out our Minor Community Service Project from 11.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. The event was led by the Organizing Chairperson, LEO Santtosh Sivaram and the Assistant Organizing Chairperson, LEO Xandra Wong. The objective of this Minor Community Service Project was to fulfill one of the global causes of the LEO Club, which is to improve the living conditions of the dogs taken in by Second Chance Animal Society. This project was also aimed to further instill a sense of responsibility and awareness towards animal abandonment amongst the LEO members.

The members and Mr. Lee set off to the Second Chance dog shelter at 9.00 a.m. and arrived at their designated destination at 10.45 a.m. Stepping foot into the compound, the members were warmly greeted by a few lively dogs. Having split us into two groups, the staff in charge then brought the members to the cages where the dogs were and demonstrated the steps on how to give them a nice shower.

Shower time!
Although showering them itself was not a difficult task, the most challenging part was to lure and leash the dogs to the cages to be showered. The lack of staff at Second Chance Animal Society was made up by the many volunteers that came to lend a helping hand.

After spending a fruitful time volunteering and playing with the dogs at Second Chance Animal Society, it was time to return to school. Before leaving for school, the members and Mr. Lee gathered in front of the venue for a group photo to mark the end of their community service.
