Minor Funding Event 2023: Let’s Yum-Cha

From the 13th September 2023 to the 18th September 2023, the LEO Club of Wesley Methodist School held its first Minor Funding Project for the fiscal year 2023/2024. This event consisted of a physical food sale followed by 3 simple game stations - Shooter’s Hideout, which was based on basketball, Football Crossbar Challenge, which was based on football, and the Ping Pong Cup Challenge, which was based on Ping-Pong. The theme for this event is ‘Let’s Yum-Cha’. Through this event, we aim to sell cheap and delicious food and beverages to fellow students. At the same time, we want students to have fun and interact with one another, especially after coming back from the Year End Holidays, while having their meals and trying out our game stations, all of which will create a lively atmosphere that will surely reinvigorate student’s spirits as they adjust back to life in school. This event was led by the Organizing Chairperson, LEO Mateen Khaliq Noor Muzir, who was assisted by the Assisting Organising Chairperson, LEO Josef Kong Kwai Lum, together with the committee members, LEO Sarah Chee Jie, LEO Eng Yik Fung (Ivan), and LEO Chee Tse Anne.

The main purpose of this event was to give the students of Wesley Methodist School Kuala Lumpur (International) the chance to enjoy themselves after returning from the Year End Holidays and reinvigorate their spirits. It also aimed to prepare the LEO members for the upcoming fiscal year as well as raise funds for the club’s future usage.

This event was held physically in the school compound. 3 simple game stations were stationed in the futsal court and volleyball court, while a food sale was held at the back of the school canteen.

On the 13th September 2023 (Tuesday) and 14th September 2023 (Monday), 3 simple game stations were set up in the Volleyball Court and the Futsal Court. They were held during upper and lower secondary break and lunch on Wednesday and Thursday. The first game, Shooter’s Hideout, was a game inspired by basketball shooting, where participants were challenged to shoot further out from the hoop to earn more points. The Ping Pong Cup game challenged participants’ abilities to knock a ping pong ball into a cup as accurately as possible to demonstrate their precision and coordination, while the Football Crossbar Challenge tested their ability to kick a football as accurately as possible onto the crossbar, adding some skill and excitement to the event.

The food sale was held on the 15th September (Friday) and the 18th September (Monday) during lower and upper secondary lunch. A wide variety of foods and drinks were sold, consisting of Indomie Noodles, Nasi Lemak Bungkus, Maggi Mi Kari Hot Cups, Pepperoni and Hawaiian Pizza, and our Milo Ais. There was a separate menu for each two days. We truly appreciate the incredibly touching support from both teachers and students of Wesley Methodist School Kuala Lumpur (International) which were the cornerstones to a successful food sale.

To sum everything up, this event was a tremendous success as we managed to raise sufficient funds for the club. The members of the LEO Club also managed to gain new skills and bond among each other. We are truly grateful for the staff, teachers and students who have supported us, and most importantly, our very own LEO Faculty Advisors and members for their hard work, grit and dedication throughout this event.
