International Relationship Week 2025: Heart's Haven
On 27th March 2025, from 3:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., the LEO Club of Wesley Methodist School proudly hosted the final event of the 2024/2025 term – International Relationship Day, held at the Wesley Hall.
This year’s theme, “Hearts Haven,” emphasized the importance of investing time and effort into our relationships despite the busyness and challenges of life. It encouraged reflection on how such connections help us better understand ourselves.
Hearts Haven explored the true essence of family and unconditional love, highlighting that family extends beyond blood ties. It portrayed how genuine care, loyalty, and sacrifice define meaningful relationships. The story contrasted the selfish and conditional love of a boy’s biological parents with the unwavering, selfless love of his grandmother—ultimately reminding us that true family consists of those who love and support us unconditionally.
The objective of the event was to convey the message that everything in life happens for a reason, while also strengthening the bonds between LEO members of Wesley Methodist School and those from other participating schools.
The event was led by Organizing Chairperson, LEO Pang Chee Meng, with strong support from Assistant Organizing Chairpersons, LEO Ayrianne Lew En Xie and LEO Tan Jia Yang. The planning and execution were further supported by dedicated committee members: LEO Reanne Chai Xin Yi, LEO Bernice Low Xin Yu, and LEO Lee Jia En.
The event began with a warm welcome from the emcees, who enthusiastically greeted the audience. This was followed by the singing of the national anthem and the recitation of the LEO Pledge, led by our club president, LEO See Kye Zac. The meeting was then officially called to order by the President Elect of the Lions Club of Ampang, Lion Lighter Chin.
Next, the Deputy Principal of Wesley Methodist School Kuala Lumpur (International), Mdm. Gan Swit Peng, delivered a heartfelt speech, expressing her pride in the LEO Club’s dedication and growth. Following her address, Lion Lighter Chin, President Elect of the Lions Club of Ampang, took the stage to emphasize the importance of unity among members. He also expressed his sincere gratitude to everyone who contributed to bringing the event to life.
With the formalities concluded, the show began with an emotional tale that took the audience on a journey through the triumphs and challenges faced by a family. The performance captivated the crowd with a series of stunning dance routines set to popular hits such as “Lovely,” “This Is Me,” “Moves Like Jagger,” and “Rewrite the Stars.” Each number was met with enthusiastic applause, leaving the audience thoroughly entertained and moved by the storytelling.
After a short break filled with delicious snacks and cheerful chatter, the show resumed and concluded on a touching note. The final act featured an emotional K-drama-style reunion, accompanied by heartfelt reflections on the true meaning of family. It was truly uplifting to witness how the story resonated with the audience, bringing everyone together in a shared moment of warmth and connection.
A vibrant finale by the talented dancers and actors of the evening beautifully marked the end of the main performance. Just when the audience thought the excitement was over, the International Relationship Committee and the LEO Board of Directors surprised the crowd with their own energetic rendition of “Uptown Funk”, officially closing the evening on a high note.
Following the performance, LEO Pang Chee Meng, the International Relationship Director, delivered a heartfelt speech expressing his deepest gratitude to everyone in attendance. He extended special thanks to his dedicated committee members and the LEO Board of Directors for their unwavering support in making the event a success.
Next, President LEO See Kye Zac addressed the audience with a warm and appreciative message, thanking the Faculty Advisors, LEOs, and Committee Members for their hard work in organizing the event. He also expressed his sincere appreciation to the students who came to support the club.
To conclude the evening, tote bags as tokens of appreciation were presented to all guests of honour, and the event was officially adjourned. Guests were then invited to enjoy refreshments, purchase merchandise, and capture lasting memories at the photo booth.
Overall, International Relationship Day 2025 was a resounding success. The event not only entertained but also served its purpose in raising awareness about the importance of understanding ourselves and others. It was a meaningful celebration of connection, compassion, and community. We have raised RM4357.25.
This amount will be combined with the proceeds from two other events: Urban Escape and LeoFest Illuminight. The total sum of RM15,558.45 will be donated to three organisations: the National Cancer Society of Malaysia (NCSM), the Malaysian Association for the Blind (MAB), and the Malaysian Medical Relief Society (MERCY). Each organisation will receive RM5,186.15.
