A Heart of Gold

Wesley LEOs and Interactors!

On the 22nd of June 2019, 17 members from the LEO Club of Wesley Methodist School attended the International Understanding Day 2019 organised by the Interact Club of Stella Maris, themed “A Heart of Gold”. This event was held in SMK Stella Maris from 1p.m. to 5 p.m.

The event began with a warm welcoming speech, followed by the singing of the national anthem and the Interact song. Being the only LEO Club present at the event, our members gave three passionate roars filled with pride and commitment during the roll call. The guests were then presented with a Road to IU video and an opening dance performance. Next, there was a speech by the principal of SMK Stella Maris and a Rotarian, both highlighting the importance of having “a heart of gold”. There was another speech by the IU director and the president of the club after a couple of dances and a sketch.

After an hour of intermission, there were a few more dances and the sketch came to an end with a mind-blowing plot twist. Souvenirs were then presented to the clubs present and there was a final dance performance by the whole club, which brought the event to an end. To sum it up, this event was a good opportunity for the members to not only socialise with other LEO clubs, but other clubs in general. It also encouraged the junior members, who will become senior members soon, to set high expectations for the club’s projects for the fiscal year of 2019/2020.
