18th Annual Installation: Phi-LEO-Timo

 

On the 25th August 2021, the LEO Club of Wesley Methodist School held its 18th Annual Installation via Zoom from 4.00p.m - 5.40p.m. The installation was themed “Phi-LEO-Timo”.The word “Phi-LEO-Timo” originates from the Greek word “philotimo”. This word conveys a variety of values that can and should be seen in a LEO member. Through this theme, we hope to nurture the seeds of honour, courage, pride and integrity in the hearts of our members and let it be an inspiration to the members as they face the new dawning fiscal year. This event was led by the Organizing Chairperson, LEO Quay Ding Rong who was assisted by his Assisting Organizing Chairperson, LEO Chung Han Jer together with the committee members, LEO Lim Yi Hang, LEO Lai Yin Shuen and LEO Wong Zixin.


The event started off with the Presiding Officer, President of the Lions Club of Ampang, Lion Shirene Chin calling the meeting to order. Next up was the flag salutation and the Outgoing President, LEO Joshua Chong Yong Ping led the members in the recitation of the LEO pledge. Then, the recognition of the Lion dignitaries took place which was followed by a speech presented by the Presiding Officer and President of the Lions Club of Ampang, Lion Shirene Chin. A video presentation made by our members was then presented, allowing us to reminisce on what we have accomplished throughout the fiscal year 2020/2021. Then, a speech was presented by our Guest of Honour, and District Governor, Lion Tan Teoh Teik Choon.

After that, the recognition of the outgoing members of the fiscal year 2020/2021 began and was followed up with the recognition of outgoing Board of Directors of 2020/2021 which was both led by the emcees. This was done as an acknowledgement to the outgoing members and Board of Directors for their commitments to the club. After that, a speech was given by the Outgoing President, LEO Joshua Chong Yong Ping. Following that, the junior members were initiated by the GAT Area Leader and 2nd Vice District Governor, LEO-Lion Potter Ka Kai Fong. Next up, the installation of the incoming Board of Directors for the fiscal year 2021/2022 was led by the 1st Vice District Governor, Lion Dorothy Ong. The members and Board of Directors pledged their commitment to the club and were welcomed with the traditional “three lion roars”. After that, the Incoming President of the LEO Club of Wesley Methodist School, LEO Quay Ding Rong gave his speech.

Subsequently, a harmonious singing performance prepared by our newly installed members, LEO Hau Shen Ny, LEO Rachel Tham Wing Yern and LEO Andrea Leng Chern Ern was played. The event was then adjourned by the Presiding Officer and President of the Lions Club of Ampang, Lion Shirene Chin and a photo session was held right after. The tokens of appreciation were then sent to each of the VIPs to their respective emails.


To conclude, the event was a successful one sending off the senior members in a ceremonial way along with a warm welcome to the newly installed members and the Board of Directors of the fiscal year 2021/2022.

On the 24th of March 2018 (Saturday), the Leo Club of Wesley Methodist School held its annual charity event - which was Charity Night, from 7:30p.m. to 11:15 p.m. It was hosted at the Manhattan II ballroom in Berjaya Times Square Hotel, which had been rented prior to the event in order to serve as the main event area. 46th MD LEO Forum

We won some awards! Ten members from the LEO Club of Wesley Methodist School had attended the 46th MD LEO Forum from the 25th to the 27th of May 2018 at Trove Hotel, Johor Bahru. The theme for this year’s forum was “Joint, Humanity, Balance”, which aimed to encourage joint learning through experience, empower compassion for a better society and equality in the society by fulfilling our own voluntary services. This was followed by an ice breaking session and cultural activity, where the LEOs were separated into groups of eight and each explored their creativity in decorating a batik cloth. Charity Night 2023: Hearts VS Spades

  On December 15, 2023, Friday, the LEO Club of Wesley Methodist School hosted its first Charity Night event in 5 years at HGH Convention Centre Sentul. The primary objective of this event was to raise funds for the community of people struggling with diabetes and to raise awareness about their challenges. Additionally, it aimed to instil a sense of teamwork, responsibility, and devotion among LEO members towards the club. The theme for this year’s event, ‘Hearts Vs Spades’, symbolises the relentless battle waged by warriors worldwide against the dreaded adversary of diabetes.  Diabetes, a chronic affliction characterised by high sugar levels in the bloodstream, is no ordinary foe. As we unite under this captivating emblem, we shine a spotlight on the valiant struggles of those grappling to stabilise their blood glucose levels and continue to live another day.
