International Relationship Week 2021: After the Encounter
From the 29th June 2021 to the 2nd July 2021, the LEO Club of Wesley Methodist School organized the International Relationship Week with the theme “After the Encounter”. The theme of this event unveils the nefarious crime of human trafficking through the eyes of Lily, a young girl, who was abducted at the age of 13. The story of Lily displays the impact of human trafficking on its victims through a series of events after she had encountered the abductor.
The main purpose of the event was to spread awareness about the horrors of human trafficking and to show people how easy it is for one to become a victim of it.
Due to the pandemic outbreak, the event had to be conducted online as the country went through the lockdown. Formatted as a video series, the members were divided into different departments which consisted of artists, colourers, video editors and marketing members.
With 20 members in charge of drawing the frames, 25 members colouring the frames and 22 members creating the videos as well as 10 members creating posters for marketing purposes, the entire project took approximately 4 months to be completed. With everyone working together, the entire production went smoothly with minimal hindrances that could be resolved easily. By the 29th June 2021, the first video was posted on the club’s Instagram account on IGTV. The rest of the series was posted on consecutive days following until the 2nd July 2021.
As the week came to an end, the series had garnered over 1200 views. The committee could not be more grateful for the support we have received from friends and seniors. The event would not have been possible without the members’ cooperation and the support from the Board of Directors too.
To conclude, we hope that our I.R. Week has raised awareness about human trafficking and that it acts as a reminder to all of us to always be aware of our surroundings so that we do not become one of its victims. We hope that everyone enjoyed the videos and was able to take something back from our event.
