Virtual Cancer Run 2022: Hakuna Matata

From the 24th January to the 28th January, the LEO Club of Wesley Methodist School organized an event themed "Hakuna Matata". This event was an online virtual run, held to spread awareness to the public regarding childhood cancer through the virtual run. Our theme description, “Hakuna Matata” is a phrase in Swahili meaning “no worries”. Through this theme, we hope to allow all the participants to run free from their worries and shackles and keep fit at the same time. It also represents our wish to allow the unfortunate children who have contracted cancer to experience a life with no worries.

There were approximately 189 students and teachers that took part in this event. Participants were required to record the number of steps they took each day across the duration of the event and submit the total number of steps they took at the end of the event. In conjunction with the virtual run event, we also had a merchandise sale consisting of badges and T-shirts. All the funds raised from the event will be donated to respective childhood cancer centres.

In conclusion, our club is very grateful to have garnered support from all the students and teachers. We hope that we were able to raise awareness about childhood cancer, and we should always be grateful for everything that we have and own.

Some amazing results from our participants!
