LEO Camp 2024: Right The Wrong
From 3:30 p.m. on the 6th of September 2024 to 11:00 p.m. on the 7th of September 2024, the LEO Club of Wesley Methodist School organized its Annual LEO Camp 2024, themed "World Vision 30-Hour Famine Challenge: Right the Wrong." The main objectives of the event were to raise awareness about the global hardships of poverty and hunger faced by millions and to strengthen the bonds between LEO members. The camp also focused on promoting leadership and teamwork, ensuring that members work together in unity throughout the fiscal year.
Participants gathered at Wesley Hall at 3:45 p.m. for attendance and registration. After registering, the faculty advisors collected their donation booklets along with the raised funds. Participants were then provided with their meals before beginning the 30-hour fast. A briefing on the camp rules and regulations followed, along with an icebreaker session to help participants get to know their group members better. The evening concluded with Mystery Night, held from 9:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.
The next day began with some morning stretches to energise the participants and loosen up their bodies. Following this, we organized a school service project where participants cleaned the classrooms in Block A, which had been used as dormitories, and tidied up the LEO Room. The afternoon featured a Mystery Afternoon activity called "Face the Music." Afterward, participants took a well-deserved break to rest, as it had already been a long day.
The evening continued with Fun Night, Parts 1 and 2, where participants were tasked with building a strong structure using straws and popsicle sticks. This activity engaged everyone and fostered team bonding as participants showcased their creativity and problem-solving skills. After a short break, participants returned to Wesley Hall for the Treasure Hunt, held from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., where they demonstrated their navigation and searching abilities to locate hidden items around Block D. Following a longer break for participants to freshen up and pack their bags, they reconvened at Wesley Hall at 8:00 p.m. for Movie Night, where they enjoyed the screening of "Minions 4," a newly released movie.
The closing ceremony began at 10:30 p.m., where prizes were awarded to the winners of the icebreaker session and Mystery Night. A group photo was taken to commemorate the event. At 11:00 p.m., participants officially broke their 30-hour fast with noodles and bread. Overall, the camp was a success, with LEO members thoroughly enjoying every moment. The camp successfully raised awareness about the global fight against hunger.
