LEO Farewell 2019: Lights! Camera! LEO!

Our senior members getting blindfolded for a surprise! On the 31st of August 2019, the LEO Club of Wesley Methodist School held its 17th Annual Farewell at Skyark Event Space from 2.00 p.m. to 6.00 p.m. The theme chosen this year was “Lights, Camera, LEO!” The senior members were portrayed as movie stars and celebrities in a gig, from only observing the club from the outside to becoming members of the LEO Club that experienced the ups and downs of the LEO journey until they became great club members that contributed to the many successful events. This event is like an after-party to say goodbye to the seniors that played their part in the movie and that the show will go on in the hands of the junior members. Joint Installation/LEO School 2019

On the 18th of August 2019, 4 of our members and our Board of Directors attended the Joint Installation and LEO School held at SJK(C) Chee Wen. The theme of the event was L.O.V.E and aimed to impart the message of “Leading with Love, Optimism, Value and Empowerment”. The Joint Installation was held from 9.00 am to 12.30 pm, while LEO School was held from 1.00 pm to 6.00 pm. 4 of our members were given the opportunity to give a singing performance at the Joint Installation event. The singers were LEO Tan Yu Shen, LEO Kho Kai Ting and LEO Cheah Zhi Xin. A melodious guitar accompaniment was played by LEO Aamax Lee. They performed two songs, which were “I See the Light” from the film Tangled, and “Don’t Give Up On Me” by Andy Grammer. Both songs aimed to encourage the LEOs as well as Lions present in the audience to stand united and serve with their whole heart. Interact Club of WMSKL(I)’s 45th Annual Installation 2019 - Ad Meliora

On the 25th of July 2019, Thursday, the Interact Club of Wesley Methodist School held its 45th Annual Installation at the Dutton Hall from 1540 hours to 1730 hours. The theme chosen for this year was “Ad Meliora”, which means “Towards Better Things” in Latin. This phrase resonates with the club as they constantly encourage others to work towards greater heights. The event began with the singing of the national anthem and the Interact song, followed by the recognition of the Rotarian dignitaries and clubs present. A speech was then given by both a Rotarian and our school principal, Mr. Wong Chee Kheon. The Rotarian began the ceremony of presentation of certificates of appreciation to the outgoing senior members of the club. It was to commemorate their tireless sacrifice and hard work in making this fiscal year a successful one. PESS IU: PLEONEXIA

On the 20th of July 2019, 6 members from the LEO Club of Wesley Methodist School attended the International Understanding Day 2019 organised by the Interact Club of SMK (P) PUDU, with the theme “PLEONEXIA.” This event was held at the Josephine Foss Hall of SMK (P) PUDU from 1200 hours to 1600 hours. The event began with a surprise performance of 24 drums being played outside the hall, followed by the singing of the national anthem and the Interact song. Being the only LEO Club present at the event, our members gave three passionate roars filled with pride and commitment during the roll call. The guests were then presented with an opening dance performance by the Board of Directors followed by a recital from the Chinese Orchestra. Next, there was a speech by a Rotarian and the principal of SMK (P) PUDU as well, both praising the outcome of the club’s hard work. Incoming members and Board of Directors of 2019/2020  getting installed! On the 4th of July 2019, Thursday, the LEO Club of Wesley Methodist School held its 17th Annual Installation at the Dutton Hall from 3.40 p.m. to 6.00 p.m. The theme chosen for this year was “Unite to Light”, which symbolises the members' teamwork in order to accomplish greater heights in the future and to create a pathway for the incoming members as well as to guide them. This event was led by the Organizing Chairperson, LEO Khoo Hui-Yi, who was assisted by the Assistant Organizing Chairperson, LEO Bin Jing Lit, Ethan together with committee members LEO Tan Xiao Jun, LEO Teh Deng Han and LEO Siah Wei Chen. Wesley LEOs and Interactors! On the 22nd of June 2019, 17 members from the LEO Club of Wesley Methodist School attended the International Understanding Day 2019 organised by the Interact Club of Stella Maris, themed “A Heart of Gold”. This event was held in SMK Stella Maris from 1p.m. to 5 p.m. The event began with a warm welcoming speech, followed by the singing of the national anthem and the Interact song. Being the only LEO Club present at the event, our members gave three passionate roars filled with pride and commitment during the roll call. The guests were then presented with a Road to IU video and an opening dance performance. Next, there was a speech by the principal of SMK Stella Maris and a Rotarian, both highlighting the importance of having “a heart of gold”. Visit to Rumah Charis

Members rated their experience at Rumah Charis with a huge thumbs up! On the 8th of June 2019, six members from the LEO Club of Wesley Methodist School travelled to Rumah Charis - Home For The Aged to carry out community service activities from 11.30am to 1.00pm. The purpose of this event is to remind the members to appreciate and be grateful to their parents, and to never abandon their parents no matter the circumstances. Upon arrival, the LEO Club members were given a tour of the home by one of the managers. Then, the members split themselves up to perform various tasks which included fixing and cleaning bookshelves, reorganizing the books, and cleaning the rooms in the home. The management staff of the old folks home were kind enough to hand out refreshing drinks to our members during their break. Before leaving, we were also given a small banner as a commemoration gift. 46th MD LEO Forum

We won some awards! Ten members from the LEO Club of Wesley Methodist School had attended the 46th MD LEO Forum from the 25th to the 27th of May 2018 at Trove Hotel, Johor Bahru. The theme for this year’s forum was “Joint, Humanity, Balance”, which aimed to encourage joint learning through experience, empower compassion for a better society and equality in the society by fulfilling our own voluntary services. Pyjamas Party. The forum began with an opening ceremony. Then, all LEOs were briefed about some home and safety rules. This was followed by an ice breaking session and cultural activity, where the LEOs were separated into groups of eight and each explored their creativity in decorating a batik cloth. At 7.00 p.m., all LEOs gathered back in the ballroom, dressed in their fanciest pyjamas for fellowship night, themed “Pyjamas Party”. Visit to NCSM

We cleaned the home! On 23rd of May 2019, 16 LEO members from the LEO Club of Wesley Methodist School volunteered at the Children’s Home of Hope of National Cancer Society Malaysia as part of the community service project from 4.00 p.m. to 6.00 p.m. The children’s Home of Hope provides free accommodation to pediatric cancer patients from outside of Kuala Lumpur while they undergo treatment at the hospital. This event aimed to help students develop social responsibility skills and become more aware of pediatric cancer. When the LEO members arrived at the at the home, they greeted the staffs and begun the cleaning. The LEO members were divided into separate groups to carry out different tasks. The tasks given included tidying up the play room, sanitizing the toys, washing the toilets, wiping the windows and cleaning the mosquito nets. Juniors taking the lead! Great job to the committee! On the 18th of May 2019, the LEO Club of Wesley Methodist School held its Minor Funding Project 2019 at Wesley Methodist School Kuala Lumpur (International) from 8.00 a.m. to 3.00 p.m. The theme of the event, “Super MaLEO”, symbolises a refreshing new type of captainball competition with components from the renowned game: Super Mario. There were a series of power-ups combined to the original captain ball game, such as Super Mushroom, Weird Mushroom and Power Balloon to add the element of surprise for the participants. The main purpose of the event is to encourage students to be more active by playing various sports. Eyeshade Walk & Run

Day well spent! On the 20th of April 2019, 11 members of the LEO Club of Wesley Methodist School participated in the Eyeshade Walk & Run event as volunteers that was held at Jalan P5 @ PICC, Putrajaya from 5 a.m. to 12 p.m. This event was organized by the Malaysian Foundation For The Blind (YOBM). The purpose of this event was to raise funds for the National Institute of Assistive Technology (NIAT).      Our members had fun helping out. LEO members reached the venue at 5.30 a.m. and were provided with the event T-shirts to change into. At 7 a.m., all the volunteers were given a short briefing and were sent to their respective checkpoints of the route to facilitate the movement of the run. Four LEO members were also given the task to be in charge of the water stations. After the run, all volunteers were called back to the starting point where a speech was given by the Minister of Health, Datuk Seri Dr. Dzulkefly Ahmad. Just KID-ding!! On the 11th of April 2019, the LEO Club of Wesley Methodist School held its annual International Relationship Day at the Wesley Hall from 4.00 p.m. to 6.30 p.m. to close up our first ever International Relationship Week. The theme of the event "Just KID-ding", focuses on children and the importance of appreciating our childhood as we will grow up based on the nostalgic memories that we had. The objective of the event was to deepen the friendship between the LEO members of our school and the LEO members of other schools attending the event, and at the same time, to educate the audience and to raise awareness on the importance of one’s childhood. On the 8th to the 10th of April 2019, the LEO Club of Wesley Methodist School held its first ever International Relationship Week, with our annual International Relationship Day to end the week. The theme of the event "Just KID-ding", focused on children and the importance of appreciating our childhood as we will grow up based on the nostalgic memories that we had. First major event for the 2018-19 fiscal year done! On the 23rd of February 2019, the LEO Club of Wesley Methodist School held its annual Urban Escape from 7.00 a.m. to 1.30 p.m. The theme for the event was “Operation Chroma”, which was inspired by our storyline. This event was led by the Organising Chairperson, LEO Woong Jia Hui, who was assisted by the Assistant Organising Chairperson, LEO Koh Yeu Leh and LEO Chen Jac Kern, together with committee members LEO Tan Khai Jeat, LEO Yong Jo Yi, LEO Chau Hui Qing and LEO Bryan Yuen Qi Wen.
