Leo Club of Wesley Methodist School

The Leo Club of Wesley Methodist School had organised its annual charity event – Charity Night on the 21 st of March 2015 (Saturday), from 6.15 p.m. to 10.15 p.m.. Instead of a charity dinner, this year we hosted a charity concert with one and only one reason – to reduce the cost for the event thus raising a larger amount of funds to be donated to the charitable organisations. The concert was held in HELP College of Arts and Technology, where it can be easily accessed through the public transport system as it was situated next to the Chan Sow Lin station of RapidKL STAR LRT system. "Stop The Traffick" was the theme for this year’s Charity Night. School Serve ’15 was a school service project held on the 17 th March 2015 (Tuesday) and 19 th March 2015 (Thursday). The main objective of this project is to provide an opportunity for the Leo members to make the school a better place to learn. An organising committee consisting of five Leo members was elected. The Leo members were Leo Lee Ee Xuan as the Organising Chairperson, Leo Heng Zi Ming as the Assistant Organising Chairperson, Leo Shweta Eliza Zachariah, Leo Toh Zhiao Wei and Leo Teng Koong Voon as the committee members. Before the project was executed, several discussions were held within the organising committee on what were the areas that should be improve and beautified in the school. As the school had just renovated the toilets, we decided to put up 'KEEP CLEAN, PLEASE FLUSH' signs in the toilets in order to encourage the students to keep the brand new toilets clean. On the 26 th and 27 th of February 2015 (Thursday and Friday), the Leo Club of Wesley Methodist School held their Chinese New Year – Friendship Day Sales during lower secondary and upper secondary break and lunch. The organising committee consisted of five Leo members, who were Leo Goh Wei Chen as the organising chairperson, Leo Lim You Xin as the assistant organising chairperson, and also three committee members including Leo Wong Swee Yan, Leo Chay Jian Shen and Leo Phoebe Cherng Fei Min. The objectives of this project were to raise the enthusiasm of students for the Chinese New Year occasion and to appreciate one another as each other's friend, as well as to raise funds for the club's future activities. Leo Orientation Day is an annual event held by the Leo Club of Wesley Methodist School to create a positive attitude and favorable impression on the club among the Leo members. Other than that, this project will also educate our newly recruited members on the roles of the members in the club as well as to obtain more knowledge about Leo Clubs. This year, our Leo Orientation Day was held on the 16 th of January 2015 from 3.30 p.m. to 5.00 p.m. in the lecture theatre of Wesley Methodist School Kuala Lumpur. On the 9th and 10th of September, the Leo Club of Wesley Methodist School carried out a school service project themed "The Positive Effect". The objectives of this event are to allow the students to understand the importance of optimism and to encourage them to appreciate and believe in themselves. The project was organised by our Community Service Director, Leo Wong Gwen Lyne, together with the assistant organising chairperson, Leo Grace Tam Yi Fern. The committee members were Leo Lim Gin Wen, Leo Ng Ka Wai and Leo Sacchidanandan Viruthasalam Pillai. We began to plan for the event as soon as the theme was decided. After countless late night discussions, we decided on carrying out activities such as the pledge board, picture collage  and pasting motivational quotes in the classrooms. On the 4 th and 5 th of September 2014 (Thursday and Friday), the Leo Club of Wesley Methodist School held our annual Pre-Exam Sales during lower secondary and upper secondary break and lunch. The event was organised by Leo Ng Cal-Vin, the Funding Director of Leo Club of Wesley Methodist School. The assistant organizing chairperson was  Leo Nigel Ian Cross, while the committee members consisted of Leo Chia Ying Yan, Leo Lee Jia Hern and Leo Jason Ong Jie Khai. The objectives of this event were to help the students to release stress by eating good food while doing their final revision before the exams, as well as to raise funds for the club’s future activities. On the 2nd of August 2014, Saturday, the Leo Club of Wesley Methodist School held its annual farewell at Furama Hotel Bukit Bintang. 67 Leos consisting of 44 juniors and 23 seniors alongside with 2 faculty advisors, namely Miss Low Fee Ngoo and Miss Lavanya Silvarajan attended this event. There were 4 Lions present at the event as well, including the President of Lions Club of Ampang, Lion Natalie Gan, and the Leo advisors, Lion Tan Poh Ling, Lion Kevin Kiew and Lion Shyan Wong.          This year, the farewell organizing commitee was made up of five junior Leo members, led by the organizing chairperson, Leo Jessica Gui Cheng Kim with her theme “Revoleotionary Roarers”. The Leo Club of Wesley Methodist School held its 12th Annual Installation on the 23rd July 2014, from 3.30 pm to 5.30 pm at the school's chapel with the theme "The Roars Live On". The committee of the 12th Annual Installation consisted of organising chairperson, Leo Kok Jia Yunn, assistant organising chairperson, Leo Tan Hooi Xin, and committee members, Leo Wong Zheng Qie, Leo Ong Kye Ying and Leo Ng Meng Jing.         On the day of the event, the incoming Board of Directors, the committee members and the refreshment team were excused after lunch at 1.50 pm to prepare for the event. The refreshment team prepared the food and drinks at the domestic science lab while the others were preparing and setting up the chapel for the upcoming event.
