A Heart of Gold

Wesley LEOs and Interactors! On the 22nd of June 2019, 17 members from the LEO Club of Wesley Methodist School attended the International Understanding Day 2019 organised by the Interact Club of Stella Maris, themed “A Heart of Gold”. This event was held in SMK Stella Maris from 1p.m. to 5 p.m. The event began with a warm welcoming speech, followed by the singing of the national anthem and the Interact song. Being the only LEO Club present at the event, our members gave three passionate roars filled with pride and commitment during the roll call. The guests were then presented with a Road to IU video and an opening dance performance. Next, there was a speech by the principal of SMK Stella Maris and a Rotarian, both highlighting the importance of having “a heart of gold”. Visit to Rumah Charis

Members rated their experience at Rumah Charis with a huge thumbs up! On the 8th of June 2019, six members from the LEO Club of Wesley Methodist School travelled to Rumah Charis - Home For The Aged to carry out community service activities from 11.30am to 1.00pm. The purpose of this event is to remind the members to appreciate and be grateful to their parents, and to never abandon their parents no matter the circumstances. Upon arrival, the LEO Club members were given a tour of the home by one of the managers. Then, the members split themselves up to perform various tasks which included fixing and cleaning bookshelves, reorganizing the books, and cleaning the rooms in the home. The management staff of the old folks home were kind enough to hand out refreshing drinks to our members during their break. Before leaving, we were also given a small banner as a commemoration gift. 46th MD LEO Forum

We won some awards! Ten members from the LEO Club of Wesley Methodist School had attended the 46th MD LEO Forum from the 25th to the 27th of May 2018 at Trove Hotel, Johor Bahru. The theme for this year’s forum was “Joint, Humanity, Balance”, which aimed to encourage joint learning through experience, empower compassion for a better society and equality in the society by fulfilling our own voluntary services. Pyjamas Party. The forum began with an opening ceremony. Then, all LEOs were briefed about some home and safety rules. This was followed by an ice breaking session and cultural activity, where the LEOs were separated into groups of eight and each explored their creativity in decorating a batik cloth. At 7.00 p.m., all LEOs gathered back in the ballroom, dressed in their fanciest pyjamas for fellowship night, themed “Pyjamas Party”. Visit to NCSM

We cleaned the home! On 23rd of May 2019, 16 LEO members from the LEO Club of Wesley Methodist School volunteered at the Children’s Home of Hope of National Cancer Society Malaysia as part of the community service project from 4.00 p.m. to 6.00 p.m. The children’s Home of Hope provides free accommodation to pediatric cancer patients from outside of Kuala Lumpur while they undergo treatment at the hospital. This event aimed to help students develop social responsibility skills and become more aware of pediatric cancer. When the LEO members arrived at the at the home, they greeted the staffs and begun the cleaning. The LEO members were divided into separate groups to carry out different tasks. The tasks given included tidying up the play room, sanitizing the toys, washing the toilets, wiping the windows and cleaning the mosquito nets. Juniors taking the lead! Great job to the committee! On the 18th of May 2019, the LEO Club of Wesley Methodist School held its Minor Funding Project 2019 at Wesley Methodist School Kuala Lumpur (International) from 8.00 a.m. to 3.00 p.m. The theme of the event, “Super MaLEO”, symbolises a refreshing new type of captainball competition with components from the renowned game: Super Mario. There were a series of power-ups combined to the original captain ball game, such as Super Mushroom, Weird Mushroom and Power Balloon to add the element of surprise for the participants. The main purpose of the event is to encourage students to be more active by playing various sports. Eyeshade Walk & Run

Day well spent! On the 20th of April 2019, 11 members of the LEO Club of Wesley Methodist School participated in the Eyeshade Walk & Run event as volunteers that was held at Jalan P5 @ PICC, Putrajaya from 5 a.m. to 12 p.m. This event was organized by the Malaysian Foundation For The Blind (YOBM). The purpose of this event was to raise funds for the National Institute of Assistive Technology (NIAT).      Our members had fun helping out. LEO members reached the venue at 5.30 a.m. and were provided with the event T-shirts to change into. At 7 a.m., all the volunteers were given a short briefing and were sent to their respective checkpoints of the route to facilitate the movement of the run. International Relationship Day 2019 - Just KID-ding

Just KID-ding!! On the 11th of April 2019, the LEO Club of Wesley Methodist School held its annual International Relationship Day at the Wesley Hall from 4.00 p.m. to 6.30 p.m. to close up our first ever International Relationship Week. The theme of the event "Just KID-ding", focuses on children and the importance of appreciating our childhood as we will grow up based on the nostalgic memories that we had. The objective of the event was to deepen the friendship between the LEO members of our school and the LEO members of other schools attending the event, and at the same time, to educate the audience and to raise awareness on the importance of one’s childhood. On the 8th to the 10th of April 2019, the LEO Club of Wesley Methodist School held its first ever International Relationship Week, with our annual International Relationship Day to end the week. The theme of the event "Just KID-ding", focused on children and the importance of appreciating our childhood as we will grow up based on the nostalgic memories that we had. Urban Escape 2019 - Operation Chroma

First major event for the 2018-19 fiscal year done! On the 23rd of February 2019, the LEO Club of Wesley Methodist School held its annual Urban Escape from 7.00 a.m. to 1.30 p.m. The theme for the event was “Operation Chroma”, which was inspired by our storyline. This event was led by the Organising Chairperson, LEO Woong Jia Hui, who was assisted by the Assistant Organising Chairperson, LEO Koh Yeu Leh and LEO Chen Jac Kern, together with committee members LEO Tan Khai Jeat, LEO Yong Jo Yi, LEO Chau Hui Qing and LEO Bryan Yuen Qi Wen. Pyjamas Party

Onesies for pyjamas! On the 22nd of February 2019, The LEO Club of Segi College Subang Jaya organised their event titled “Pyjamas Party 2.0.” An estimated number of 70 people from different LEO Clubs attended, those including LEOs from our very own club the LEO Club of Wesley Methodist School. The event was held at Segi College Subang Jaya from 6.30 p.m. to 10.30 p.m. This event was held to strengthen bonds among existing friendships and to make new friends. Our members had fun! The attendees representing the LEO Club of Wesley Methodist School wore animal onesies, which are loose-fitting one-piece leisure garment covering the torso and legs. The event started with roll call where each club presented three roars with boldness and passion when their club names were announced. OSEAL LEO Forum 2019

On the 11th of January, five members from the LEO Club of Wesley Methodist School attended the Fellowship Night of the 2nd OSEAL Forum 2019. It was held at the KDU Glenmarie Campus in the Multipurpose Hall and themed “Back to the 50’s”. The event began from 7.30 p.m. to 11.00 p.m. During the Fellowship Night, performers such as Insomniaks and NYK came to perform some hits from the 50’s and also some of their own music. Food and photo booths were also set up so that participants could enjoy themselves. Many LEOs and Lions got together to enjoy the night as well as to know each other better. Our members are excited for the forum! On the 12th and 13th of January 2019, two of our members attended the OSEAL LEO Forum. It was themed “Changing Perspectives, Expanding Horizons” and many LEOs and Lions came together from multiple countries to support this event. LEO Orientation Day 2019

On the 9th of January 2019, the LEO Club of Wesley Methodist School held its annual LEO Orientation Day at the lecture theatre from 3.30 p.m. to 5.30 p.m. The main purpose of the event is to educate the newly recruited LEO members about the objectives and functions of the club, as well as the various responsibilities of a LEO Club member. The event was organised by LEO Alyssa Yip Zhixin. Club President, LEO Lan Yuen Qi, explaining about the  projects we have planned   for the year. The event started off with the opening ceremony, followed by the meeting called to order by the President of Lions Club of Ampang, Lion Joey Lee.
