18th Annual Installation: Phi-LEO-Timo

  On the 25th August 2021, the LEO Club of Wesley Methodist School held its 18th Annual Installation via Zoom from 4.00p.m - 5.40p.m. The installation was themed “Phi-LEO-Timo”.The word “Phi-LEO-Timo” originates from the Greek word “philotimo”. This word conveys a variety of values that can and should be seen in a LEO member. Through this theme, we hope to nurture the seeds of honour, courage, pride and integrity in the hearts of our members and let it be an inspiration to the members as they face the new dawning fiscal year. This event was led by the Organizing Chairperson, LEO Quay Ding Rong who was assisted by his Assisting Organizing Chairperson, LEO Chung Han Jer together with the committee members, LEO Lim Yi Hang, LEO Lai Yin Shuen and LEO Wong Zixin. The event started off with the Presiding Officer, President of the Lions Club of Ampang, Lion Shirene Chin calling the meeting to order. Joint Installation 2021

On the 14th August 2021, the LEO Club of Wesley Methodist School's Board of Directors attended the virtual District 308 B1 LEO Clubs Joint Installation from 9.30 a.m. to 12.00 p.m. This event was themed "Hope".  We started off wit h the meeting being called to order, followed by the flag salutation and the LEO pledge. Throughout the event, speeches were given by various Lions. Words of encouragement were also given by the Guest of Honour, District Governor Lion Tan Teoh Teik Choon. During the Initiation Ceremony and Board of Directors Installation Ceremony, our club's Board of Directors were present to show our support towards the other LEO clubs in District 308 B1. To wrap up the event, a group photo was taken and the meeting was then adjourned.  Overall, Joint Installation was a golden opportunity to form connections with other LEO clubs. Minor Funding Project: Cyberspace

   From the 10th July 2021 to the 18th July 2021, the LEO Club of Wesley Methodist School held its minor funding project for the fiscal year 2021/2022. The event was an e-sports tournament that consisted of various games, which was in relation to the theme “Cyberspace”. This event was led by the Organizing Chairperson, Rachel Tham Wing Yern, who was assisted by her Assistant Organizing Chairperson, Lan Tian Zhao, together with the committee members, Hau Shen Ny, Ng Qi Zhi and Wong Xuen Wen. Cyberspace involved a total of 233 participants including the students and alumni of Wesley Methodist School Kuala Lumpur (International) and some outsiders. The main purpose of the event was to bring the participants together by giving them a chance to work together as a team and to provide new learning opportunities for our LEO members. International Relationship Week 2021: After the Encounter

From the 29th June 2021 to the 2nd July 2021, the LEO Club of Wesley Methodist School organized the International Relationship Week with the theme “After the Encounter”. The theme of this event unveils the nefarious crime of human trafficking through the eyes of Lily, a young girl, who was abducted at the age of 13. The story of Lily displays the impact of human trafficking on its victims through a series of events after she had encountered the abductor.  The main purpose of the event was to spread awareness about the horrors of human trafficking and to show people how easy it is for one to become a victim of it. Due to the pandemic outbreak, the event had to be conducted online as the country went through the lockdown. Formatted as a video series, the members were divided into different departments which consisted of artists, colourers, video editors and marketing members. District Virtual LEO Forum & Award Day 2020/2021

The time for awards is here! On the 26th June 2021, Saturday, 9 of our club’s Board of Directors attended the District Virtual LEO Forum & Award Day from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. At 10:00 in the morning, the BOD entered the Zoom meeting and the event kick-started with the meeting being called to order by the Presiding Officer and District Governor, Lion Kenny Low. Following that was the Flag Salutation, recitation of the LEO pledge, and Roll Call. At 10:20 a.m., the Head of District Chairperson of LEO Clubs and AKPK, Lion Lee Wai Koong, gave a report on the 2020/2021 District Leo Movement. He stated that many LEO Clubs were unable to carry out their usual numerous services and projects due to the pandemic, but there are also various clubs who managed to organize some. We did it! 47th MD 308 Leo Forum 2021

LEO Forum, here we come! On the 5th and 6th June 2021, the LEO Club of Wesley Methodist School attended the 47th MD 308 Leo Forum 2021 that was held virtually on Zoom due to the ongoing pandemic. 14 of our LEO members signed up for this auspicious event, which was themed "Faith, Hope, Love" and it was opened to LEOs from multiple districts.  One of the seminars! On the 5th June 2021, the event started off with a general briefing for the participants. This was  followed by an ice-breaking session, where participants were separated into breakout rooms to exchange introductions within their groups. Then, participants were led back to the main room and the opening ceremony commenced. During the session, speeches were given by various Lions and also the forum's Organizing Chairperson. Next up, there was an E-bazaar session, allowing participants to purchase unique merchandise made by some clubs. After a lunch break at 2.15 p.m., participants proceeded to their registered works

Major Community Service Event: Global Awareness Challenge 2021

We present to you the organizing committee! From the 5th April 2021 to 11th April 2021, the LEO Club of Wesley Methodist School organized its first-ever online major community service event - Global Awareness Challenge 2021. This major community service was led by the Organizing Chairperson, LEO Santtosh Sivaram, who was assisted by both of the Assistant Organizing Chairpersons, LEO Low Shun Xuan and LEO Chloe Tan Her Yi, together with committee members, LEO Jayshen Ratnadurai, LEO Wong Xin Ping Xandra and LEO Christopher Joshua Chong Weng Jun. Global Awareness Challenge 2021 was a district-level event that involved a total of 120 participants, including the students of Wesley Methodist School Kuala Lumpur (International) and various LEO Clubs in District 308B1. The main purpose of this event was to fulfill two of the five global causes of the LEO Club, which is to raise awareness regarding the current condition of our environment and also the community struggling with diabetes . Minor Community Service Project: Second Chance Animal Society

A day well spent! On the 10th April 2021, Saturday, nine of our members and Mr. Lee Sek Khoon, our Faculty Advisor, from the LEO Club of Wesley Methodist School visited Second Chance Animal Society to carry out our Minor Community Service Project from 11.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. The event was led by the Organizing Chairperson, LEO Santtosh Sivaram and the Assistant Organizing Chairperson, LEO Xandra Wong. The objective of this Minor Community Service Project was to fulfill one of the global causes of the LEO Club, which is to improve the living conditions of the dogs taken in by Second Chance Animal Society. This project was also aimed to further instill a sense of responsibility and awareness towards animal abandonment amongst the LEO members. The members and Mr. Lee set off to the Second Chance dog shelter at 9.00 a.m. and arrived at their designated destination at 10.45 a.m. Stepping foot into the compound, the members were warmly greeted by a few lively dogs. SJK(C) Salak South Environmental Project 2021

SJK(C) Salak South Environmental Project 2021 (Part 1) On the 13th March 2021, 5 of our members went on an environmental community service event organized by the Lions Club. It was a collective event between Lions and LEOs that would be held over a span of 5 weeks. After having breakfast with the Lions, we then departed to the school - SJK(C) Salak South. Firstly, we were briefed on simple gardening knowledge by Lion Angela. After that, we worked together and planted a plethora of vegetation such as Brazilian Spinach, Tomato, Papaya and so on. We were also given an opportunity to paint a mural in the school. For this first week, we managed to paint the foundation with white paint. All the members really worked hard and it was definitely an unforgettable experience. Artists for the day! Minor Community Service Project: Free Tree Society

Hello again, FTS! The LEO Club of Wesley Methodist School made another visit to Free Tree Society on the 30th March 2021. This time, 8 different LEO members, plus the club's Community Service Director, LEO Santtosh Sivaram, were given a chance to carry out a Minor Community Service Project that aimed to fulfill one of the global causes of the LEO Club: Environment. The members were accompanied by Ms. Cynthi, one of the club's Faculty Advisors.  The main objective of this project was for the LEO members to acquire knowledge and the necessary skills to ensure the well-being of plants. This was also an opportunity for the LEO members to be exposed to the environment around them and to educate them on the ways they can help sustain it.  After gathering all 9 of the LEO members and the Faculty Advisor at Wesley Methodist School Kuala Lumpur (International), the group departed to Free Tree Society at 9.00 a.m. After a 30 minute ride, the members reached their destination and were gre

Community service time! On the 20th March 2021, Saturday, nine of our members and Mr. Naresh, our Faculty Advisor, from the LEO Club of Wesley Methodist School visited Puppy’s Loving Home to carry out our Minor Community Service Project from 9.30 a.m. to 11.30 a.m. The event was led by the Organizing Chairperson, LEO Santtosh Sivaram. The objective of this Minor Community Service Project was to fulfill one of the global causes of the LEO Club, which is to help take care of the environment that the dogs in Puppy’s Loving Home live in. This project was also aimed to further instill a sense of responsibility and awareness towards animal abandonment amongst the LEO members. The members and Mr. Naresh set off to Puppy’s Loving Home at 8.45 a.m. and arrived at their designated destination at 9.30 a.m. Upon their arrival, the members were graciously welcomed by a large group of dogs at the front gate. The owner of Puppy’s Loving Home then brought the members on a tour around the dog shelter.

Online Urban Escape 2021: Unravel the Unknown

Sweet! On the 27th February 2021, Saturday, the LEO Club of Wesley Methodist School organized its first ever online major funding event - Online Urban Escape 2021, with the theme “Unravel the Unknown” from 8.00 a.m. to 2.30 p.m. The major funding event was led by the Organizing Chairperson, LEO Tham Zhan Chern, who was assisted by his two Assistant Organizing Chairpersons, LEO Teoh Han Yang and LEO Ong Zhi Qing Natalie, together with committee members, LEO Yau Jing Xiang, LEO Joshua Tan Zi Xuan and LEO Low Wei Tong. The club's very first Online Urban Escape involved a total of 38 teams which consisted of 109 participants.  The objectives of this event were to raise funds for future events and community service events of the LEO Club of Wesley Methodist School, and to develop teamwork and problem solving skills among the participants. Virtual LEO Camp 2021: LEO-saurus

The LEO Club of Wesley Methodist School had our annual LEO Camp virtually from 5.30 p.m. to 9.30 p.m. on the 19th February 2021. The main objectives of the event were to encourage the members to enjoy themselves and improve relations among all club members, especially between the senior and junior LEO members.  The theme of the camp was “LEO-saurus”. The word "LEO-saurus" portrays the LEO members as a species of dinosaurs that roar the loudest. The dinosaurs left a long legacy which is what we as LEO members should do for the club. By looking up to the dinosaurs, we should unite together to achieve greater heights for the club. At 5.30 p.m. on Friday, participants gathered together on Microsoft Teams in their respective teams and our event started off with the opening ceremony. It was an honour to have Lion Joseph Thong and Lion Elessee Lai to grace the opening ceremony of our event. Lion Joseph Thong also gave a speech where he praised the works of our club and encouraged ou
