Virtual Youth Camps & Exchange Get-Together 2020

On the 27th November 2020, 11 members from the LEO Club of Wesley Methodist School attended the Virtual Youth Exchange Get-Together that was organized by the LEO Club of Kuala Lumpur City Centre (Omega). LEO Clubs from 5 countries around the world including Malaysia, Japan, Brazil, Turkey and the United States of America participated in this virtual event. The event was kickstarted by a video presentation where all the speakers from around the world collaborated to dance along to the tune of “Jingle Bells”. Later on, the District Governor of District 308 B1, Lion Kenny Low gave his opening speech. This was followed by a speech by the Youth Exchange Chairperson of District 308 B1, Lion Serena Yeo. After this, representatives of each country were given a timeslot to share about their culture from where they are from. Yes 2 Healthy Life

The LEO Club of Wesley Methodist School was invited to attend a project themed "Yes 2 Healthy Life", which was organized by the LEO Clubs of District 308 B1. This project was held to promote healthy living among the people around us despite the ongoing pandemic. It comprises four different activities: The Breakfast Challenge, Virtual Marathon Relay, Virtual Triathlon Competition, and Blood Donation. Most of our members took part in The Breakfast Challenge,   where we had to post a picture of our breakfast for each day  within the 13th December to the 19th December on either  Facebook or Instagram. Through this challenge, we were  reminded of the importance of starting each of our days with  a nutritious breakfast and a full belly. Furthermore, some of  our members also participated in the Virtual Marathon Relay  that took place between the 6th December 2020 to the 2nd  January 2021. Spotlighted

It's showtime! Throughout the month of December, the LEO Club of Wesley Methodist School carried out a small project that involved the showcasing of our members' unique talents. This project was given the name "Spotlighted" because we aimed to illuminate our fellow members who are blessed to have different capabilities and present them to the crowd. Prior to December, a few of our members volunteered to record videos of their performances. After several edits, these videos were then posted on the club's Instagram page. Two videos were scheduled for every week of December. Performances ranged from instrument performances to videos of dancing and drawing. All in all, this project allowed our members to stay active even during our school holidays and they were given the chance to display their awesome skills and gifts to the community around us. 63rd International LEO Day 2020

On the 5th December 2020, Saturday, a few members of the LEO Club of Wesley Methodist School participated in the 63rd International LEO Day 2020 which was held virtually on Zoom and Facebook Live from 2:00p.m. to 5:00p.m. This online event was themed “Leos Among Us”, where LEOs from different clubs could meet together virtually to share and listen to each others’ LEO journey for the last 63 years. Registration and the joining of the respective online platforms began at 1:30p.m. Then, the event kicked off at 2:05p.m. where the emcee of the day greeted the Lions, Leos and everyone presented. Moving on, the meeting was called to order by Presiding Officer, Lion Joe, followed by the Flag Salutation and the recitation of the LEO pledge. Next up, there was a Roll Call and Recognition, which then led to the Officiation and speech by the Guest of Honour and District Governor, Lion Kenny Low. Global Causes Awareness Challenge - November Series

Throughout the month of November, the members of the LEO Club of Wesley Methodist School gladly took part in the Global Causes Awareness Challenge for the month. This challenge was held in conjunction with World Diabetes Day. For this challenge, members were required to walk or run as much as possible to reach the goal of 10,000 steps whilst using a Pedometer app, a smart watch or a fitness watch. Then, they had to post their results on a social media platform and tag 3 friends to pass on the challenge. To recapitulate, it was a great experience for the members as they were not only able to bond within the club but also form ties with the other LEO members of the district. In addition to that, this challenge was an incredible way for the members to exercise more during the Conditional Movement Control Order. 10,000 steps, done!

Autumn Language Camp for AEIPS of LEOS

On the 29th November 2020, 7 members from the LEO Club of Wesley Methodist School participated in a virtual autumn camp for AEIPS of LEOS, an initiative by the LEO Club of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka. LEO Clubs from 9 different countries around the world including Sri Lanka, India, Pakistan, Indonesia, Nepal, USA, Brazil and Nigeria participated in this online camp. The online camp kick-started with a pledge of allegiance to our respective national flags, followed by the recitation of the LEO pledge. Following the pledges, a video presentation was displayed. After that, guest speeches were made by several LEOs present. The participating clubs were then split into two teams, Summer and Winter, to play a game of spelling bee. Our club was part of Team Summer, however, Team Winter emerged as the winner. The committee behind it all. On the 28th September 2020 to the 2nd October, the LEO Club of Wesley Methodist School held its minor funding project for the fiscal year 2020/2021. The theme of the event was “Pre-sent: Present.” The word “Pre-sent” is separated because “Pre” stands for before exams, and “sent” represents how each gift is delivered to an individual by their friends as a form of encouragement or simply as a motivation to not back down but face their upcoming challenges. “Present” stands for the gift that will be given to their friends as a sign of good luck. This event was led by the Organizing Chairperson, LEO Tham Zhan Chern, who was assisted by the Assistant Organizing Chairperson, LEO Low Wei Tong, along with committee members LEO Tan Li Xuan, LEO Yau Jing Xiang and LEO Alicia Lee Yoke Yoong. Minor Community Service Project (Free Tree Society)

Hello Free Tree Society! On the 26th September 2020, Saturday, nine of our members and Mr. Naresh A/L Manickavasagam, our Faculty Advisor, from the LEO Club of Wesley Methodist School visited the Free Tree Society (Bangsar Nursery) to carry out our Minor Community Service Project from 9.00 a.m. to 12.00 p.m. The event was led by the Organizing Chairperson, LEO Santtosh Sivaram. The objective of this Minor Community Service Project was to fulfill one of the five global causes of the LEO Club, which is to sustainably protect the environment by obtaining the knowledge and skills required to ensure the well-being of plants. Joint Installation 2020

On the 13th September 2020, the LEO Club of Wesley Methodist School's Board of Directors attended the virtual Region 3 and 4 LEO Clubs Joint Installation from 10.00 a.m. to 12.00 p.m. This event was themed "Connect".  We started off with the meeting being called to order, followed by the flag salutation and the LEO pledge. Throughout the event, speeches were given by various Lions. During the Initiation Ceremony and Board of Directors Installation Ceremony, our club's Board of Directors were present to show our support towards the other LEO clubs in Region 3 and 4. To wrap up the event, a group photo was taken and the meeting was then adjourned.  Overall,  Joint Installation was a golden opportunity to form connections with other LEO clubs. Besides that, it was an eye-opening experience for us as we managed to witness how an official event like Joint Installation could be held virtually.

Virtual LEO School 2020

On the 23rd August 2020, the Board of Directors of the LEO Club of Wesley Methodist School took part in the Virtual LEO School that was organized for the benefit of the newly selected Board of Directors of the LEO clubs in District 308 B1.  The main purpose of this event was to explain the roles and responsibilities of the Board of Directors of the club. A total of four different Google Meet video calls were conducted: President School, Secretary School, Treasurer School and Director School. Throughout this event, quizzes and ice breakers were carried out by the organizing committee to induce fun into the educational sessions.  All in all, the Board of Directors got to understand more about their roles and duties. We are very grateful that we could attend this Virtual LEO School and we sincerely believe that it will aid us in our fiscal year.

Virtual LEO Orientation 2020

On the 15th August 2020, the Board of Directors attended the Virtual LEO Orientation from 8.00 p.m. to 10.00 p.m. via Google Meet. The objective of this event was to grant LEO members in District 308 B1 the chance to understand more about the history of Lions and LEOs. In this session, we explored the purpose of being a LEO member and the meaning of serving the community. Overall, we got to learn more about what being a LEO means and how we can make an impact on the people around us. Such an informative session carried out by the LEO trainers!

18th Annual Installation: Roar to the Distance

New members being sworn in as LEO members! On the 8th September (Tuesday), the LEO Club of Wesley Methodist School held its 18th Annual Installation at the Dutton Hall from 3.40 p.m. to 6.00p.m. The theme chosen for this year was “Roar To The Distance”. The word "Roar" resembles the members' determination and enthusiasm towards the future. It also marks the start of a new era as members are being installed. The phrase "To The Distance" represents our defiant act towards all sorts of "darkness" that surrounds us today. It inspires the juniors to be ready and steadfast for the beginning of the fiscal year. Minor Funding Project 2020: DeLEOvery

On the 27th July 2020 to the 30th July 2020, the LEO Club of Wesley Methodist School held its minor funding project for the fiscal year 2019/2020. The theme of the event was “DeLEOvery.” This theme was inspired by the food deliveries that gained popularity during the 2020 Malaysia Movement Control Order. This event was led by the Organizing Chairperson, LEO Kuan Ling Ya, who was assisted by the Assistant Organizing Chairperson, LEO Tham Zhan Chern, along with committee members LEO Low Shun Xuan, LEO Julian Wong Ken Ryung and LEO Justin Eu Che-Yang. The aim of this event was to provide affordable snacks for students and teachers through the sale of various snacks and to raise funds for the LEO Club of Wesley Methodist School’s future community service events. Prior to the 27th July 2020, a Google form was sent out to the whole school in order for them to pre-order their individual food items. The committee members had to pre-pack all the orders beforehand as we had to adhere to the rule

URBAN ESCAPE 2020: MISSION: LA MISSIVE

On the 22nd February 2020, the LEO Club of Wesley Methodist School organized its annual funding event - Urban Escape 2020 from 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Urban Escape 2020 was presented to the school this year with the theme Mission: La Missive, which was inspired by our unique storyline. This large scaled funding event was led by the Organizing Chairperson, LEO Siah Wei Chen, who was assisted by his two Assistant Organizing Chairpersons, LEO Wong Yen Ming and LEO Chow Ee Jun, together with committee members, LEO Chan Zhi Xinn, LEO Wong Zi Yin and LEO Yong Cheng Jin. As soon as the proposal and storyline of this event was approved by the Principal of Wesley Methodist School Kuala Lumpur (International) last year, the organizing committee immediately started carrying out the planning and preparations for the event. On the 8th January 2020, Wednesday, the LEO Club of Wesley Methodist School had their Annual LEO Orientation Day from 3.30 p.m. to 5.30 p.m. The objective of this orientation was to allow the newly recruited LEO members to have a full understanding of the LEO Club. It also aimed to create a positive impression on the new members regarding the LEO Club and to instill a sense of belonging in the new members towards the club. The event was led by the Organising Chairperson, LEO Teh Deng Han and Assistant Organizing Chairperson, LEO Khoo Hui-Yi. The members gathered at the Lecture Theatre after school at 3.15 p.m. Upon the Guest of Honor’s arrival, Lion Nelson Tee who was the speaker of the orientation, the event commenced. Minor Community Service Project 2019 (PAWS Animal Welfare Society)

On the 17th of December 2019, Tuesday, seven of our members and Mr. Naresh A/L Manickavasagam, our Faculty Advisor, from the LEO Club of Wesley Methodist School visited the PAWS Animal Welfare Society centre to carry out our Minor Community Service Project from 9.00 a.m. to 12.00 p.m. The objective of this minor community service project was to help clean up and take care of the animals in the centre. The event was led by the Organising Chairperson, LEO Teoh Zhi Yuan. The members and Mr. Naresh set off to the PAWS Animal Welfare Society at 8.30 a.m. and arrived at their designated destination at 9.00 a.m. Upon their arrival, the members were briefed about the rules and regulations of the PAWS centre. The members were then split into groups and were given different tasks. A group of three girls were put in charge of the cats area, where they washed the cats bowls, as well as sweep the floors in the cats cages. The LEO Club of Wesley Methodist School had our annual LEO Camp from 3:45 p.m on the 15th November 2019, to 9:00 p.m. on the 16th November 2019. The main objectives of the event were to encourage the members to enjoy themselves and improve relations among all club members, especially between the senior and junior LEO members. Participants gathered at the Wesley Hall at 3:45p.m and we started off the event with the opening ceremony. It was an honour to have Mr Wong Chee Kheon and Mr Amaranathan to grace the opening ceremony of our event. Mr Wong also gave a speech to encourage our LEO members. It was then followed by the icebreakers session which made the campers feel more energetic and allowed them to know their group members better. After that, we had dinner. This was followed by Mystery Night 1 from 8:30p.m to 10:30p.m. The next day, we started off with morning exercises to hype up the campers and get them ready for the day. Annual School Service 2019: Car Wash & Food Sale

On the 11th November 2019, Monday, to the 14th November 2019, Thursday, the LEO Club of Wesley Methodist School held their annual School Service after school from 3.40 p.m. to 5.00 p.m. In conjunction to the free Car Wash for all teachers and staff, the club also organized a food sale. The main objective of the event was for the members of the LEO Club to express their gratitude and appreciation towards the teachers and staff for all the hard work they have put into ensuring that the students receive the best education in the safest and cleanest learning environment. The event also aimed to allow the LEO members to gain a new set of skills by learning to wash multiple cars efficiently with the help of teamwork. On the 24th September 2019 to the 28th September 2019, the LEO of Wesley Methodist School held its first minor funding event of the fiscal year 2019/2020 – Pre-Exam LEO Fun Fair. The theme of the event was “Euphoria Express.” Euphoria is a feeling of intense excitement and happiness. Therefore, the LEO Club of Wesley Methodist School welcomed our school’s very own students to hop on this Euphoria Express for a quick getaway from their intense studying every break and lunch at Wesley Methodist School Kuala Lumpur (International). Community Service Collaboration Project: Land That I Love

On the 18th of September, the LEO Club of Wesley Methodist School organised a community service project with the theme “Land That I Love” in conjunction with the school’s Patriotic Day which was organized a week later. The event was held during both upper and lower secondary break and lunch in front of the school canteen. Students were encouraged to write what they love about our country, Malaysia, on a piece of coloured paper. The participants received premiums sponsored by Shell Malaysia, which were notebooks and pens. The outcome of this event was really successful as the notice board was filled with notes written by the students and teachers of WMSKL(I). On the 7th of September 2019, Saturday, twelve members and Mr. Lee Sek Khoon, our Faculty Advisor, from the LEO Club of Wesley Methodist School visited Zoo Negara to carry out our Minor Community Service Project from 8.00 a.m. to 12.00 p.m. The objective of the event was to fulfill one of the global causes of the LEO Club, which is to sustainably protect the environment by improving the well-being of the animals in the zoo. The event also aimed to further instill a sense of responsibility and awareness towards animals amongst the LEO members. This event was led by the Organizing Chairperson, LEO Teoh Zhi Yuan, who was assisted by the Assistant Organizing Chairperson, LEO Kee Jo Ann together with committee members LEO Elizabeth Aiwei and LEO Rachel Lee Jia Shuen.
